What happens if ISU doesn't agree then?
Then the game is on FS1 or an ESPN channel. It's Texas, this game didn't not get chosen by a network, both teams agreed and because of the TV contract and it's allowing two tier 3 games for Texas (and by ISU agreeing to it), it was not available to networks when they choose their games 13 days ago.

Thank you for the explanation. I understand what you are saying now.

Based on what you have said, it makes no sense at all to agree to play the game on LHN.

Agree 100% on that. I get why JP is doing it, but as someone who lives out of Iowa, it's annoying the ONLY way I can watch this is by listening to Texas homers call the game, especially when I pay for an annual membership to Cy TV. As I have said before, this game should be available to those out of Iowa who have an annual membership to Cy TV.

No idea if this would work but if you have someone in Iowa that could sign up for cy.tv for a day for you and give you the password. Then you could login and watch it out of state.

Going to guess it tracks based off the IP the game is being watched from, not the IP you sign up from.

Some of you fail to understand this is not about getting people to subscribe to a specialized network, it is about getting high caliber people to move back to Iowa. :)

Then it wouldn't be on LHN. It would have been picked up by one of the lower Big 12 networks probably.

We need to get past the myth that won't die that "It's a Texas home game so they own the rights." This is 100% false for conference games. The Big 12 owns media rights for conference games, not the home school.

When I checked the schedule and clicked on "verify your access" on WatchESPN for the ISU @ Texas game, it redirects to a DirecTV login. The other ESPN games, when I do the same, ask for a cable provider. Not feeling great about this one.

Yeah, I don't think this is going to work. When I log into WatchESPN with my PSVue account the game has a padlock on it that says 'Premium content from Longhorn network'.

I live in Iowa but am about 50/50 on whether or not they will block the content because of my satellite IP. Trying to block by IP address sucks. It's difficult and prone to so many errors.

Can the Big 12 be any more messed up right now? The LHN is a complete joke, and JP agreed to have this game on it so basically nobody could watch it?

And on top of all that, the conference sucks at football these days and is the laughing stock of college football. None of this stuff bodes well for the future of the league.

The team that controls virtually everything in the conference isn't even good at football anymore, and hasn't been for quite a while in fact. Lowly ISU is going to beat them 2 years in a row after tonight. I love that fact, but nonetheless, the conference is a total mess. Thanks Bowlsby.

I would be surprised if Texas didn't have some other sort of leverage to get us to agree. Probably dollars and/or influence applied in some fashion

So would it be possible to obtain a login from a friend in Iowa who has mediacom and watch the game out of state on cyclones.tv? Or am I understanding the first bullet point below incorrectly?

OUTSIDE OF IOWA
  • Viewers, who are outside the state of Iowa (but have Mediacom service) can watch the game on the Cyclones.tv channel.
  • Subscribers to Cyclones.tv who are outside the state of Iowa (or have an IP address originating outside the state of Iowa) - or do not have Mediacom cable - can watch the game via the Longhorn Network (it can be added to most cable/satellite lineups).

Tried the PlayStation route this morning. Won't let me play longhorn network.
Weird, a few days ago another poster and I were able to watch LHN but it looks like ESPN got smart and blocked off the game. The ISU/UT game link has a padlock. Dangit..

Update.. Actually, just re-enter your PS Vue credentials. Even though there is a padlock for what is on right now, it is now letting me watch a replay of a UT game that is live on LHN. We'll see if it let's you do that tonight though... FWIW, the ISU/UT game no longer has a padlock.

I have the trial but I am not seeing the Longhorn network on the Playstation Vue. Also, when I go on WatchESPN I get this message. Probably user error, can anybody help. Thanks.

That is weird.. It's like it will work for some people but not others. Maybe they set it up that you can't do the free trial to get LHN.. who knows..
