i will definitely do that. I was only upset that some think there is no room for criticism as long as it was a "good loss." I just forget how sensitive some of you are. Cool ranch it is.

On the positive side I think the Cyclones found out a lot about themselves. Play defense like the second half and they can beat anybody. They played with the heart of a lion. They didn't cave. Gonzaga one of the best teams did. Cyclones long term won the bad arse award. We are going nowhere but up. I'll take that ribbon any day of the week. I'd put my money Gonzaga would hate to play us in the big dance.

If they can replicate what they did for 15 minutes of the second half they will be competitive with anyone. Big teams like Baylor would still have me worried, though.

Yes. Like most good teams, there will be times (and specific teams) that we struggle. This is not unique to Iowa state.

After today nobody scares me including Baylor, Kansas, or anyone else. It's going to be a good year.

Burton was fantastic and the main reason we came back. He was gassed. I'm hoping he can build on this experience and continue to get this effort going forward.

And if they didn't call a timeout there and didn't get a good shot, people would be ripping him for not using the timeout. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Prohm calling a time out cost isu chance to win. not recognizing isu had a foul to give. Inexcusable. Then glossing over the point and not owning up to it in post game interview. Clearly outcoaced.
The fact remains that after calling a time out, the opposing coach iterated to his team their was a foul to give. And, Prohm's TO and subsequent play calling did not adequately include this happening. IN the end, ISU did not get a shot off.

You'd be upset if they ran with it and put up a bad shot too.

Wait. How do you know that was the case? How do you not know that there wasn't two plays drawn up? That **** happens all the time.

3-4 of Gonzaga guys looked great in the first half and were talked about quite a bit. Then it became the Burton show and they barely mentioned the Gonzaga guys after that.

Would love another crack at them in March (obviously we have to get there first).

I would add that big athletic teams more so than just big. What killed us the most was them being on fire from 3 when we tried to double the post. I felt that there was a lot of fouls missed on them down low on drives as well.

Prohm got outcoached. Monte gets the shot off and makes it and Few got outcoached. Saying a coach got "outcoached" in a game that came down to the final play is pretty stupid IMO

This, but actually being critical of a coach for "allegedly" not calling the right play is not that big of a deal and not out bounds. Its the hyperbole mode of every time ISU loses a game or has a bad half that it means finishing 10th in the league, or lots of losses, that I have hard time understanding.

Maybe its ISU fan always expecting the worst to happen, therefore 20 minutes of subpar ball, means that the year will suck, because we are ISU.

Its college basketball, its IPFW beating Indiana. Chill..

This team has really improved on defense. They just need to learn to play it the whole game. Also, the offense did not look good the whole time in Florida. Too much one on one and not enough moving the ball. But I think that will improve or at least I hope so. Shot selection goes right along with that.

I think this team showed what it can be by only losing to Gonzaga by 2 when they didn't play nearly to what they are capable of.

Hey ISU played a good game against tough competition. I am sure they learned a lot. I just want the team to win, when the opportunity is there. In the post game interview, Prohm said 3 times he wished he had drawn up more than one play, in case time was short. They simply missed the fact that they had a foul to give.

It was a good performance by the team. Importantly they weathered a barrage of three's being made and played against a higher team with a size advantage only losing by 2 on the road. I really like the fact the coaching staff made adjustments and the team responded especially in the second half.
Not a "good loss" guy but the team definitely learned a lot from this game and tournament over all which will benefit the team moving forward. They responded to tough times and dealt with many different players stepping up at various times and defined roles with Burton asserting himself as 1B on the alfa of the team. The coaches have to be happy with the weekend results other than the L.

All due respect but my preference would be to have the "rematch" either April 1 or April 3 (in Phoenix). By then the Zags would have a season's worth of experience playing together (i.e. 5 of the 8 man rotation are seeing the floor for the Zags for the first time this year). Would also hopefully get 2 of GU's injured guys back (top defensive stopper and best shooter .... Zach Norvell who was also recruiting by ISU).

Sunday was a very good college basketball game between two very good teams/programs. I'd love to see a "home and home" set up. We've had some good matchups with Michigan State (4 year deal), Notre Dame, Arizona (now on our 2nd 4 year deal), Stanford, UConn, Illinois (4 year deal), Tennessee (4 year deal) and a host of others. The 4 year deals are often on campus/on campus/Battle in Seattle and a neutral site game near our opponents campus (i.e. UConn was at Boston Garden).

I was wondering why Norvell wasn't playing.

By then, we would too (4 of our 8 (or 5 of 9 with Young back) man rotation are seeing the floor for the first time this year as well). A home and home would be great.
