That's so stupid... NC state and Western Kentucky can get 5 star recruits but our staff doesn't want to waste time on recruiting them

Talking about the future. imo you can't have a consistent top 15 without getting 5 star recruits
Teams that do get 5 stars aren't consistently top 15. And if you need one that is without getting 5 star players, see Wisconsin.

I wish we would have given Teddy Allen more of a look. Hope he doesn't wreck us for the next four years when he's at West Virginia.

How would he impact our posts? He's a wing, having seen him play a handful of times this year, I'm not disappointed we missed out on him. He'll be a decent player but right now he's not even the best player in Omaha, probably the 4th or 5th best. Thing I can't quite figure out is why we didn't recruit either of the d1 bigs from Omaha this year. Heck of the 7 or 8 Omaha metro players that will play D1 ball, we only recruited one of them. IMO those kids combined with the two studs Creighton has from Omaha right now means we need to be giving Omaha kids a better look.

Disagree. Of the current Top 15 ranked teams, do you think Creighton, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Virginia and say "yeah they're full of 5 stars"?

247 has Teddy as the best player in the state of Nebraska for 2017. Second is Isaiah Chandler who is headed to New Mexico. Third is Landon Walker.

I am an ISU Grad, and a Wisconsin fan (my daughter goes there). I see all Cyclone and Badger games. The reason Wisconsin can win without 5 star players is the system. Bo started it, and Greg has continued it. They have also figured out you can't win in the Big 10 without bigs. Their post player is 6' 10", the backup is 6' 9", and they have two athletic 6' 8' players at both forward positions. Someone needs to tell CSP you can't win in the Big 12 with no player taller than 6' 8" (and don't appear to be very athletic). That is why we lost to a bad Iowa team. No inside game and the perimeter shooting is off. You can't challenge in the Conference or go far in "The Dance" without an inside game.

CSP knows, it was Fred that didn't. Young and Lard will be good, Prohm tried to fill holes with Bowie and Holden.

I've seen both of the other two kids play winthin the last month,Arop from South may be better and there is also a kid at Papio (Ed Chang)that is a jr, he's a much better all around player. Teddy plays against C1 (Iowa 2a) competition on a 4-3 team. He puts up big points because he averages over 25 shots a game, other than offense, his game needs a ton of work.

ISU could have went to the final four not starting a player over 6'8 if Niang hadn't got injured. You sir are wrong.

Trying reading the whole thing again... the key word is consistent
What is "consistent" exactly? Multiple years? The only ones that stay in the top 15 year after year are blue bloods. We are not and never will be a blue blood. Teams can have successful 4-5 spans without 5 stars. See Georges Niang, Wichita State with Baker and Van Vleet, Creighton with Doug McDermott, West Virginia since joining the Big 12.

how do you think the blue bloods became the blue bloods?? they recruit the best players. Why can't iowa state get those players too? For an example Oregon when Dana took over they were a CBI team. 5 years later they're a top 15 program and have signed a 5 star recruit and multiple high rated 4 stars.

Iowa State doesn't need 5 star recruits to make the NCAA tournament but they'll never win a championship without one.

They are blue bloods because they have multiple championships, multiple NBA legends/HOFers, once in a lifetime coaches, crazy high winning percentages.

Oregon is a bad comparison. Nike money, facilities now.

ISU had a shot to win a title without a 5 star recruit on the team until Georges broke his foot. (sorry for the reminder)

im just disappointed that we didnt capitalize on our recent success... like Washington hasn't been good at all but they somehow pull a top 5 player in back to back years why can't Iowa state do that
In both the case of Washington & Western Kentucky, they have the godfather of the 5 star commit on the staff.

This 2017 class I would rate a "C" right now. If we get a good Juco center that can play solid defense and rebound. I would put it into an A-/Bplus range. Just seeing how bad our low post play is right now is scary. However, a Juco center, with Lard getting some minutes and learning the big 12. We will be alright. Love Wiggington

You seem to be really underestimating the difficulty of college basketball recruiting & getting 5 star recruits.

I'm not sure if it's via ignorance or sheer will of proving you're right, but you're glossing over a big fact about Oregon. Think now.

We've been winning that way. Perhaps you can't win the conference though. The Big 12 is not the plodding Big 10 either. And that's not why we lost the Iowa game. We had little guys getting beat down the court and a lack of ball movement. We could beat Iowa just fine with who we have, but not playing that way.

That's crazy, we did the hard part landing two big time HS prospects, one being one of significant need. If a standard Spring JUCO big brings that from to an A- from a C then you are giving that player too much credit or not giving Wigginton/Lewis/McNeill enough credit
