Why do we struggle so much at FT's?

Very frustrating. We play with a bunch of shooters yet we can't make FT's. I don't get it???

Bowie is one of the worst free throw shooters I've ever seen! The guy is a total liability whenever he gets fouled while shooting.

We got stuffed and missed quite a few around the rim last night too.

I liked his effort last night more than I've seen out of him before. I think he's got a chance to get it going, just needs to finish.

We end up with our poorest shooters getting fouled. Bowie, for example, is probably our most aggressive guy at attacking the basket. He gets fouled, but can't shoot free throws. You don't get fouled hanging around the three point line. If we had more dribble penetrators we would get more fouls. That said, burton should be a better free throw shooter.

Hoped to see improvement by now.
Players can't get taller, faster or jump higher in the span of a season. They can however, be coached, increase focus, practice and improve on free throws.
This needs to happen or it'll surely cost us games and perhaps a tourney bid.
Frustrating.

Rick Barry says hi. Again.

It' ain't a **** swinging contest. It's a contest of points. Try them underhand. Long list of guys like Wilt and Shaq that would rather shoot "like a man" then score points and help their team.

I was flipping channels a couple of weeks ago. Saw an interview with several players that were the worst free throw shooters in the nation that became the best in the nation in less than a year. I think it was Washington U (not sure). When asked how they collectively became the best their answer was: "We practiced". Go figure.

It's amazing to me that a guy can get a full D1 scholarship - and major minutes, or even an NBA contract, and can't his 65% of FT's - considering the amount of practice time invested.
