If Hoiberg stays we end up with Diallo and Coffey with a good chance at Miles Bridges. He didn't stop recruiting altogether, he just couldn't make promises to these kids that he knew he couldn't keep.
Would you rather Hoiberg stay and hold Prohm's hand through the recruiting process?
Prohm relied heavily upon two major academic risks and completely whiffed on Holden and Bowie. That is on Prohm, not Fred.
With the talent in the backcourt on this team, nobody is asking him to replenish the front court. If he could have just found one grad transfer or JUCO post to give us ten COMPETENT minutes a night this would be a different scenario. That isn't an "impossible task" in fact that should be expected. I'm sure it was difficult selling 5 NCAA tournament births in a row, a couple sweet 16s, a top 25 ranking, immediate minutes, and the talent in this backcourt.
