Didn't Iowa State blow out #4 Kansas in like January?

Also sorta kinda beat a team ranked #1 at the time who went on to the Final Four.

I thought ISU was playing its most cohesive team ball at the end of the season though.

I'm not sure if this group will find it or not.

Oh yeah... that game... Meh they beat #1 teams all the time.

That Niang guy put that team on his back at the end of last year. Would have loved to have seen that team with a healthy Naz. Granted this team takes massive step back if that happens.

Its a fair question to ask if this group can find it or not. You see flashes of how good they can be and then you see things that just make you want to gouge your own eyes out.

In before he can't make the shots for the team line.

Shaka coached around him in circles tonight.

Dude, get over it. He's our coach and he's going to be for the forseeable future. For ***** sake, just try maybe supporting him and supporting the team. Or go knock on Jamie's door. Maybe start a protest in front of Sukup.

Oklahoma was certainly a great win at home. I was just indicating that I thought the game against UALR was their best one.

Is this where I'm supposed to say that I sure miss those days when we could beat a Top 25 squad at home? Everybody wants to see Iowa State succeed. I don't care if it is Steve Prohm or anyone else. I have my concerns but I'm not asking for the man to be fired. But I hate the fact that people try to excuse every mistake he makes by saying well he didn't lose to UAB or he's never lost 3 in a row. In the end Prohm will be judged on the 2018-19 season. I plan to be in Maui in November 2018 cheering the team on.

If these fools can just win, we wouldn't be taking about this. Just win. Shoot the ball and let it go in, do it again until we score more points than other idiots then exveryone will be happy.

Apparently so can Illinois... and Washington... and Alabama... and Western Kentucky... but not Kansas. What in the world is happening?

You're right.. they can. Western Kentucky has a 5 star coming their way. We've never been able to say that.

We just need a legit PF in the range of 6'10 - 6'11 to atleast compete for the rebounds, until that is fixed, Wiggington will be a waste here and other future good PGs won't want to commit to ISU where as much as good they can be, they won't get any help playing for ISU thereby affecting their NBA chances. Prohm needs to step up on the recruitment of bigs. I don't know if he casts his net wider or not, but something is wrong here. Maybe he needs to fire his assistants and bring in some that will him recruit better.

Right! Western Freaking Kentucky has a 5 star recruit and we don't. There is a kid in Oskaloosa that is probably going to be a 5 star when its all said done, watch us sleep on him until its too late, I know he has taken a visit to Hilton, but how much is being done to make this kid want to come to ISU instead of Iowa Chokeyes or freaking NC is anybody's guess.

Should have known this thread was coming.

The evidence suggests to me that the players often go off script for extended periods. I say this because, when we're doing well, we're doing the things that Steve Prohm says they need to work on, and when we're not, we're almost always doing what the players seem to describe in interviews (getting open shots, but they're just not falling). To be fair, some of those big comebacks are fueled by the same shots now falling, but the better shots come when they're doing what Coach Prohm is urging them to do.

This is how I think the season will end
OU- W
@KSU-L
TCU-W
@Tech- L
BU- L
OSU- W
WVU-L
17-13 (9-9)

I think it's about right. Which in my mind means we will need to win a couple in Conference Tourney to get in NCAA.

I am not a huge fan of Prohm, but where is our senior leadership? This is something you would expect from a team full of freshman, but we started 5 seniors last night. We get innondated with CF stories where we quote, "we need to keep our foot on the gas against Texas", "if we lose against texas the Ku win means nothing", "every game is important", but we go out and lay the ultimate dud. This loss lies on the backs of our seniors who didn't come out to play against Texas.

That could very well be. Unfortunately, players going "off script" for extended periods does not bode well for the rest of the season. Also of concern is why that is happening in the first place.

Old dog/new tricks? Obviously, it's the coach's job to get the players to do what he's wanting done, but that only goes so far. At some point, what's obvious to us watching should become obvious to the players in the film room. And don't get me wrong- I haven't been hammering the coaching staff or players at all this year, as I happen to think that they are a missed shot here or there away from being a ranked team. I just also happen to think that with adjustments that Coach Prohm is trying to put in place (that we see from time to time), those 2 point losses could be 10 point wins. 8 guaranteed games left in a lot of senior seasons, so if they're going to develop a sense of urgency, now is the time.
