I think it's really important this isn't the expectation but if he can just be a threat, that would make life much easier for everyone, Deonte in particular. Imagine a world where you can't collapse on him inside. Choo Choo mother *******.

If he has a game like he did plus maybe a few more rebounds vs OU last Saturday ISU's chances are very good vs. lots of teams imo.

Some of you need to go back and watch the Texas game before getting too carried away.

One thing I did like was the one time he got it 1-on-1 in the post with Wade, he was calm, made a power dribble, pump faked, got Wade in the air, and finished easily. He has a solid offensive game, but we have a lot of weapons. He'll get some more easy dunks on those pick and rolls before the season's over.

Nope? Nothing you posted refutes my post. I don't doubt Young or him continuing to work without complaining. I never said anything about a lack of communication, but rather the communication hasn't been the best. It's the coaches job to effectively communicate and that's not happening if your grad transfer in January has to ask you what he needs to do.

Prohm's doing a good job. Better than Hoiberg would with this roster. But mistakes happen and Prohm's learning. We're very close to having a great year. A lot of the difference is poor luck, but a little better management of the post situation would have helped, too.

If Solomon Young had to walk into Prohm's office to ask why he was not getting minutes then he needed to just walk right out of the Sukup building.

It was pretty evident what was holding him back.

My new theory on why S. Young has played better lately.... He let his hair down, both figuratively and actually.... He stopped thinking and started reacting. He also got rid of the the damn hi-Pony-dred thing he had going. He definitely played his role and well last night.....

I think we lose without him. He stopped so many potential runs with a block or deflection or rebound.

I hate this observation, tbh. Solomon Young played an awesome game tonight. He's an absolute monster, and I'm not taking anything away from him. However...no kidding we'd have lost without him. We would have lost without Monte or Deonte or Naz or Matt too, though. Especially the first 3 I listed.

I totally agree with you. His weakness early on was his pnr D. And Holden was/is actually good at pnr D. But it's always seemed like Young could give you more in other areas of the court. I've never seen Bowie as an adequate 5. But I can understand how early on how the offense from 1-4 should have been enough to offset Holden at the 5.

Bowie would have been a decent 4. Too overwhelmed at the 5.

I think Saturday will tell us quite a bit more if he's progressing on defense. Let's be real, without a healthy DJ and Wade, KSt is at the bottom of the conference for front court skills.

Brodzianski is a very tough guy to guard, especially for a young freshmen. However, I do think Solomon has the bulk to muscle him up and fight him for boards. It's just a matter if he can stay with him on defense. Brodzianski is very skilled on the offensive end. He has post moves similar to Georges, but without the ability to stretch the floor.

But those guys weren't cleaning up missed bunnies, grabbing key rebounds to limit second chance KSU possessions, or getting 8 offensive rebounds.

I do get what you're saying but if one of the other 4 have an off night, the 3 others can pick it up. If our post presence has an off night, we have an uphill climb.

There are literally 2-3 shots that change the perception of this season if they go in from the non-conference season. I'll add MT's missed 3 at Texas because that was close too. Just one of those things.

Sort of red-flaggish was Prohm after the OU game saying how he made his own decision to start Young...why wasn't that the case from the get-go? I'm not saying Young should have been starting all that time--he was still green and not great in a few games, but how much in put do assistants typically have for that kind of thing, and what exactly were his assistants seeing if they were in his ear to play someone like Bowie?

When you are fighting just to get in the NCAA tournament you can't throw away minutes hoping someone can figure out how to defend screen roll when bullets are flying for real.

I think you are undervaluing Monte's passing and surehandedness with the ball. I'm just saying that we need to not forget that all 5 starters scored in double figures and played pretty well. Threesus went off in the first half that allowed us to build our big lead.

True. Love me some Solomon. Agree that Brodziansky will be a step up as D.Johnson was not 100%. Then there's the Baylor bigs. So while I'm extremely happy for the team and the young man, I hope he just continues to grow. Was it just me, or did Holden look awful out there? But maybe it was just because Solomon looked so good. For a minute, I was begging at the TV for Prohm to get Solomon back in there. lol

In Holden's defense he had a typical Holden game. Solid defense, decent rebounding, made a nice defensive play to prevent a lob. Nothing offensively. What he does just can't compare to the dynamic that Solo brings
