Prohm is doing a very good job since coming to ISU. In fact, other than a handful of "elite" coaches, there is nobody I'd rather have right now coaching at ISU. I think he's better than Hoiberg at most things too, and I would rather have him than Hoiberg too. Is that enough for you?

Does that mean I won't criticize him when he makes boneheaded decisions? Nope. Sorry. He's a big boy, making big bucks.... I'm sure he can handle it. In fact, I'm sure he could care less what any of us losers has to say anyway.
Please just shut the **** up and stop posting. You are making a fool of yourself.

First post in the thread for me. Finally caught up after celebrating with a few beers with my ISU buddy and soaking in the comments from OT until now (hint: it goes by faster when you ignore certain posts). Some repeat commentary here I’m sure, but my quick takes:

1) Enjoy Monte, he’s a special, special player. May never see a PG like him again at ISU, at least not for a long time. Much like Georges last year, I find myself forgetting how great he has been because I’ve grown to expect it from him.

2) Grit, toughness, whatever word you want to use. Prohm has instilled it with this team. It’s not just the road wins, but an improved defense and overall swagger has made me really appreciate how they play.

3) I, like many of you, have not been able to sleep but just might be okay now ;)

17 wins, I dunno. If we finished 17-13 and then lost the 1st game in the conference tourney, a 17-14 record probably wouldn't do it. We don't have enough quality wins on the ol' resume. Sitting at 18-9 now, I think there is a 90% chance we are in, but one more win should make it a 100% chance.

LMAO..is this a joke? We are in..over..lock..we could lose every game from here forward by 20pts per game and be in. I can't believe some still think we arent in yet. We have 5 conference road wins..That is just ridiculous given how strong this conference this year. THere are some talking about Pitt and CLemson possibly still getting in and they are both 4-10 in their conf right now.

Like they said in the broadcast this was our 5th conf road win the most since LE's 00-01 team.

Then you add in the fact that in 2 of the 3 road losses we do have were ones we should have won (Texas is bad and at Baylor we had a 6-8 point lead with under 5 minutes to go).

If you think I blamed Prohm for having Babb in at the end of the game, then you can't read. I specifically defended Prohm for having no choice but to have him in the game since Naz and Burton were both fouled out.

That doesn't mean he should be in a situation where the ball gets in his hands when he hasn't shot a FT all night. Monte, Matt, or DJ would have all been better IMO than Babb at the line in that situation, that's all.

But believe whatever you want to believe I said.

Please tell us how the last possession should have been different. Who is taking out the ball?

Listened to the game because I was working in the garage tonight, listening to John and Eric without running upstairs every 5 seconds was tough! The less I stopped to listen and the more I worked, the better we played, so I'll take credit.

Great team win, imho. I don't think we win that game the last two years with one of our big guns having an off night. Reminds me of the Clyburn/Babb/Lucious/Ejim/Baby Georges/Tyrus year where they started figuring **** out at the end of the year. I hope this team can keep putting it together and potentially do the damage in the tourney that that team got screwed out of due to bs calls in a few games.

Also, my ignore list has grown by 1 tonight.

Wow, now I've seen it all. I guess it's time to go to bed.

Getting criticized now for having empathy towards a young man who grew up in a rough environment, lost his Mom at a young age, and is now trying to be a major level college basketball player while balancing school and all that goes with it. Unbelievable how low it has gotten on here.

I'd bet you everything I own that Prohm himself would rather take the blame than having the fans blame the players, but that's because Prohm is a class act and a class guy. Same can't be said for many on here I guess. Wow.

That flawless victory you keep looking for happens only in Mortal Combat. Certainly not in the toughest conference in the country.

That was prior to winning this game. If Iowa State had lost out a 17-14 record with an RPI in the high 60's a berth would be far from a sure thing. Irrelevant now with the win.

20 wins is the old way of thinking! Advanced statistics have replaced that school of thought and they favor Iowa State. 9-9 in the toughest conference in the country is in and that's not even debatable.. Right now TCU or K-State can realistically get in at 8-10. Last nights win puts us at 100% and we would probably have to lose out to even fall back to the 8/9 game.

Great win. It's amazing how close they are to 7 road wins. Also, earlier in the year they wouldn't have won with Burton not scoring.

I'm not sure we handled the end of game perfectly, but nevertheless.

Highest we get is a 5. Great win on the road, but too far behind 8 ball to expect better.

If we win out and win the conference tourney we would be in 4 seed territory. Our RPI would be pretty high in this scenario. I'm not saying this is going to happen but it's possible.

The fact that the last shot was taken after the buzzer proves that we got some breaks. How Iowa State would it be to lose in Lubbock by a buzzer beater? That right there says we got at least one. no doubt that hitting EVERY free throw would've been key, but it's hard to understand the pressure of the situation without being in it. I think all in all, we shot well from the line, but those shots at the end would've saved about 18 people on here from having minor heart attacks. That's why people literally live and die by the Cyclones.

That was great defense, so we created our own break there. The missed layups by TT were heavily contested for the most part too, but some of it could be considered us getting lucky. TT got their own share of breaks with some of their shots that were so bad that we had rebounding position but couldn't collect them.

On Chris Williams' instant podcast, he said that ISU "caught some breaks tonight." So, I'm not the only one. I didn't say that caught EVERY break but TTU had at least 3 easy fast break chances that they didn't finish.

Sure we caught some breaks but we also had times in the game when that freaking Under Armour ball wasn't bouncing our way.

I don't feel like looking back. I remember you saying something about it being on Prohm for Babb being in that situation. Babb was going to be a part of that play one way or the other. It's not like Tech was just going to magically let us inbound the ball to Matt uncontested in the middle of the court. They directed the ball to the corner and did everything but shank Monte there. He was fortunate to get to ball to ANYBODY at that point without turning it over. Babb happened to be that guy and I give him credit for sticking his nose in there and being strong with the ball. Any play design goes out the window at that point. He missed the free throws...it happens. These were the toughest minutes he's played in his career and there's no way to simulate them in practice or anywhere else. Hopefully he's better for it down the road.

I think we handled it better than Tech, and in the end that is all that matters. :)

And I thought I was the only one who thought the announcers sounded like they were in a studio 900 miles away from the actual game going on. It felt so detached.
If they are going to call the game remotely that's fine but dang ESPN needs to do a better job mixing in the crowd noise.
