His statement yesterday irritated the hell out of me. He talked about how he hoped this could be the healing he needed and how he felt like he was welcomed back to the Cubs family. Ricketts, Theo, and company have made multiple attempts to reach out to him and do something for him, which he's turned down at each point. Its only now that he's received a ring with quite a bit of value that he feels the healing process has begun? What happened to him was ****** but its been +13 years. Get on with it. I hope I dont have to hear about him again after this. Like I said, his statement yesterday really rubbed me the wrong way.

Bartman could be rich as **** off his story...much richer than any ring with value is going to bring him. The guy has likely turned everything down for the past 13 years because he doesnt want to be made a spectacle of.

How does the Cubs bullpen match up with the Yankees' now?

That's gonna be a hell of a World Series. The execs at Fox have to be elated right now.

Im more worried about the Dodgers right now. They will have home field, and the Cubs have traditionally sucked in LA.

We did just fine there last year, and Kershaw is the wrong kind of playoff legend.
I'm not worried about LA. Reality will hit sometime that they can't actually go undefeated the rest of the way.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we provide that reality check in the NLCS.

But 2007-2008 were head case teams. I wouldn't judge this bunch of champions against them, except to say that this group is much, much better.

...who got swept in LA just this season. Even last years and 2015's team only won 1 of 3 there in the regular season. So this team (assuming they have pretty much been together since 2015) is 4-8 there.

But 2 out of 3 in the playoffs....... You can't discount that.
I wouldn't even consider the Cubs who went out there early in the year to be the same team we are now. We're seeing the championship-caliber Cubs in action again.

Well I hope you're right, but the Dodgers scare the crap out of me this season. Hopefully they cool at the right time, and we are playing our best ball.

They are neck and neck with the 2001 Mariners win pace, it is crazy.

the playoffs are a crapshoot anyway. It all comes down to getting a few hot weeks from some key hitters and or pitchers. Before last year, the team with the best record in the regular season hadn't won the world series in a while.

Have you watched Catching Hell? If not you should as it really opens your eyes to just how poorly the man was treated and how his life was turned upside down that night. They literally had to disguise him as part of the security team trying to sneak him out of Wrigley and even then people still figured it out and got on him so he had to go into hiding. The man's life was ruined over an instinct to try and catch a foul ball just like several others sitting near him were attempting to do (watch the video and see just how many hands came within inches of his.) I'm sure those people to this day are thankful it was not them that touched that ball, it was ridiculous just how Bartman was made the scapegoat for doing what most fans would have done in that situation. And any true Cubs fan knows that game was not lost because of Steve Bartman, Alou was no gold glove OF so even without him touching that ball it's unlikely he catches it then Alex Gonzalez booting what should have been a double play ground ball to end the inning is what led to the unraveling of that game.

I'm fine with him getting the ring as it doesn't even come close to making up for the wrong doings some idiot fans have done to him over the years that has made it nearly impossible for him to live a normal life. He has been gracious and humble this entire time, he easily could have done interviews, sold his story, wrote a book, had a press conference to receive the ring, etc, and made a fortune off the incident but instead he has tried to stay low profile and live as normal of a life as possible. He's probably one of the most true and loyal Cubs fans there is to go through what he has and still big a big fan of a team who some of their fans treated him like dirt and changed his life forever.

The funny thing is, if Gonzo turns that double play, no one knows who Steve Bartman is.

Agreed. Also consider the Cubs were in danger of getting booted from the playoffs by the Giants and the Indians. As dominant as their record and performance was in 2016, they were close to losing as well. I'm not worried by first half performances of the Dodgers.

Not to mention if Dusty took out a gassed Prior, who admitted one of his later pitches got over the strike zone and shouldn't have and/or Dusty slowed down the game with a meeting with the players to settle them down, perhaps their performance would've been better. There were a handful Cub mistakes since that Bartman incident which were bigger contributors.

Also the Cubs blew game 7, being up in that game as well.
