It hasn't been funny or relevant for many years now. Neither team treats this game as their super bowl.
Unfortunately, it will exist until the day that Hok fans no longer breathe (through their mouths) and walk the face of the earth (with their knuckles dragging).

So what you are saying is Campbell can't get his boys up for a big game and Coach Kilmer (CYTwins reference there) can? So do we have a coaching problem here?

Iowa Fan really seems to think the college football world revolves around them.

Cousin couldn't believe that I didn't know a certain Iowa player. I don't follow the team. I don't want to follow the team.

Painful for Iowa Fan to hear....it's easy to not follow the team. Seriously easy to avoid if you don't live between the Missouri and Mississippi

I hear you, OP. Generally speaking, win or lose I'll be glad when this game is over and both teams can get on with their seasons. I know it's a rivalry, but for whatever reason this week brings out the worst in a lot of people.

I'm from Iowa City, so this game has personal significance, but when you only play a 12-game regular season, every game should be considered a SuperBowl.......But ISU-Iowa is bigger than the Superbowl - it's the Corn Bowl :)

Ames Tribune quotes Campbell as saying, "We've put priority on this game ........." . Super Bowl!
My own personal preseason prognostications have the UI game as "must win" for bowl eligibility. My rationale is that it's typically winnable (whereas OU should never be considered as such) and getting three non conference wins plus three conference wins is more plausible than two and four. So I can understand prioritizing the UI game at this point in Campbell's tenure.

But after week 1 I feel a lot better about ISU's ability to get to 4 conference wins

Also, UI has to be a priority simply to keep up in local recruiting and getting butts into seats at JTS.

EDIT: It's widely known that Fry put extra emphasis on the ISU game. For 15 years he succeeded in making ISU an afterthought in the state. So if you want to call that "super bowl" go ahead.

Quoting this so you can refer back to it as your s***ty excuse in the event that ISU wins.

Doing you a favor.

If you look back over my posts since joining here I think you will see me defending Iowa playing ISU and that the environment in Ames is a good experience heading into Big Ten play. But yeah Super Bowl for all! The whole state pays attention, even casual fans who wouldn't know what a false start was if one happened in front of them.

But your coach just said otherwise. Putting priority on this game. Your coach on the record. So both sides have it as their super bowl. You should host a super bowl party. Invite both sides. Most extended families have fans of both teams.

Coach speak. I think anyone that watched the game last year saw who wanted it more.

Thankfully that weird corn family trophy is not the super bowl trophy any more.
