Coach speak. I think anyone that watched the game last year saw who wanted it more.

That is a high compliment and I would wonder why the other coach didn't want to win as bad since that is kind of his job.

Can we all go on the record right now as accepting whatever the results of the game are? No if it weren't for this play or that or this turnover or bad call or just because of where it was played, etc? Just agree that head to head results are what matter and we will find out Saturday.

CMC focuses more on improving his team in the non conference to prepare for conference games while Kilmer focuses on beating Iowa State.

The only reason this is still 'a thing' is because you let it bother you by acknowledging it, thus why the idiot tavern hok, continues to push the button....

True, but I'm hoping we use last week's poor start against a fired up team as a wakeup. I appreciate the approach of focusing on improving over getting too high for any single game, but nothing is worse than losing to Iowa/UNI because we couldn't match their energy.

Looks like Kilmer is putting his starting Center back in there for this one. And a guard who has had a bad ankle.

Iowa Fan really seems to think the college football world revolves around them.

Cousin couldn't believe that I didn't know a certain Iowa player. I don't follow the team. I don't want to follow the team.

Painful for Iowa Fan to hear....it's easy to not follow the team. Seriously easy to avoid if you don't live between the Missouri and Mississippi

Very easy and even living in B1G country.

The rivalry even feels less interesting since there's not much coverage outside of Iowa.

Iowa fans obsessing about how much they don't care about the game is like the guy who say he's not racist and 'proves' it by speaking Spanish to someone only because they look like they speak it too.

You won't get any from me. It's head to head. Every team can start picking out plays or turnovers or where a game is played and make excuses. It won't change the result. If you played any game over it would never turn out exactly the same, so all accept the outcome and move along.

My own personal preseason prognostications have the UI game as "must win" for bowl eligibility. My rationale is that it's typically winnable (whereas OU should never be considered as such) and getting three non conference wins plus three conference wins is more plausible than two and four. So I can understand prioritizing the UI game at this point in Campbell's tenure.

But after week 1 I feel a lot better about ISU's ability to get to 4 conference wins

Also, UI has to be a priority simply to keep up in local recruiting and getting butts into seats at JTS.

Baylor looks like a dumpster fire.

Do UI fans have separate assessments about Super-Bowl-ism for (1) ISU fans and (2) ISU the team itself?

Totally open-ended question, obviously no way to scientifically gauge it.

A) I'm guessing coaches and players from both schools, regardless of year, don't take it lightly and want to win as much as any other game in a season (but still not "more" than any other game).

B) Do Hawkie fans assume majority of Cyclones fans care only about beating Iowa — such as, the rest of the season can suck "as long as we beat Iowa"?

C) Is the entire SB concept simply an easy-out for Iowa fans if Hawks have a good season, but couldn't manage to beat Iowa State in the process?

I think the game is more important for ISU because if we can't beat Iowa there are usually at least 6 teams in the Big 12 that we will not have a chance against, but if Iowa loses they can still get to 8-10 wins and even win their big ten division.

And why doesn't ISU have a chance against those 6 teams in the Big 12?
