Lolololol

Because your 45 year old dad-bod buddy just told you the supermodel at the bar totally wants his ****. And all of you just went right along with it.

The irony of this post is incredible.

That you think for a second Michigan fans care one bit about Iowa makes you the problem.

You dumbasses have built volumes of anecdotal evidence as rationalizations of why you matter. You don't.

the big 10 was smart to be first and the sec was smart to tie themselves to espn.
big 12 was smart for not chasing after them like pac 12 and acc and do the tier 3 option.

conclusion:
1. big 10 and sec are smartest
2. big 12 is next and hopefully getting smarter
3. acc and pac 12 are the dummies

This is true, until ESPN can no longer pay all those large contracts they have signed. Then there will be disruption and SEC will hopefully not be smarter than the B12.

That's not what I said at all. I'm pointing out that prior realignment centered around conferences staking their claim in large media markets. If realignment occurs in a few years the focus is going to be on fan bases willing to subscribe to content. You are absolutely right, the B1G is printing money but in the long run Rutgers and potentially even Maryland won't hold the same value that they did when media markets are what drove the cash flow. Absolutely the B1G will respond but the writing is on the wall that content delivery is changing and the Big 12 is actually looking pretty smart for holding back.
So why would a school that has almost 70,000 students not bring eyeballs? I don't really get the difference in media eyeballs on TV or in a different subscribed format. They're in the largest population area in the country!

I get that it is professional sports country, but they will bring interest as soon as they achieve any level of success in the B10. My guess is that will be quicker than you probably think. They were in the AAC 4 seasons ago.

1). This story is less believable than Chris's stupid ******* story about somebody trying to Pee in his truck

2). And I'm absolutely positive that the big 10, and Michigan fans, are just dying to get a school that is ranked 115th in the country by US News....Would be the worst in the Big Ten… And has the most laughable list of athletic accomplishments in major conference history… Into the B10

Just so we're clear...this ^^^ is that guy who is a moderator on Hawkeye Whatever (I think it's john's site) and he locked the entire website down when @CyTwins figured out who he was. HUGE cyclone fan until people realized he was dumb enough to use the same UN at both sites.
Hawkeye Lounge is the site you're looking for. He and his friends are having a big circle jerk about it right now in their 18,000+ post "Iowa State Football Bashing Thread."

I'll now eagerly wait for them to copy/paste this post into that same thread and the lame jokes that will follow.

Hey let's keep this on topic. Iowa State's academic reputation is known all over the country!

Everyone in Michigan knows!!!

There's Harvard, Yale, Stanford, M.I.T., Oxford and.....oh yes, Iowa State.

The Big ten Network has been able to leverage the cable companies for a premium price for their content. The cable companies in turn pass the buck along to the viewers in that market. Networks like BTN, SEC, NFL, NBA, etc have all demanded a premium for their content and in turn the cable companies have increased their prices to offset the overhead. Even the subscribers who have the most basic package are paying extra so the cable companies can proved this content to the people who actually view it. This has lead to expensive cable packages, which has fueled the streaming services. The Streaming platforms will be a major player in the next round of media deals and the revenue is all based off of advertising and individuals who are willing to pay for/subscribe to the content instead of an entire viewing are paying for it. It will be pretty interesting to see how it all shakes out because ESPN can't continue to shell out the money that they have over the last 10 years.

He's on Hawkeye Lounge, a Geocities site where many of the old guard from the Hawkeye Report Off Topic board moved. There are a couple of posters from that site that share Thefullmonte login here and then report back to their bros in the thread that Fitzy mentioned.

Oh my. I've had plenty of fair and balanced posts here. It shouldn't matter if you're a Hawkeye, Cyclone, Purple Teddy Bear, etc....when you post insanely stupid things, you should be mocked for them.

But hey, this is the ad hominem argument headquarters

I think less about Nebby since they joined the Big 10, but every once in a while I'll venture over to their message board, and all of the reasons why I despised them come flooding back. They are so up their own ass when it comes to their football team. Very few of them can see the program for what it is, which is a middle of the road Big 10 team. That's it. No worse and sure as **** no better.
They need to come to the realization that Tom Osbourne doesn't matter anymore. Tommy Frazier doesn't matter anymore. Eric Crouch doesn't matter anymore. The past is a wonderful thing, but living there doesn't help at all.
They're no longer a football power in any sense anymore. It's got to be a bitter pill to swallow, but I don't expect it to change for many of them any time soon.

You could have switched Iowa for Nebby and Hayden Fry for Tom Osbourne and this statement would still hold true.

IMO Nebraska was destined to take a step back just due to the TV contracts as we know them today. During their hay day Nebraska was able to sell a recruits parents out on the west coast that they will be able to watch their son play on national TV every week. Now every P5 program can make the same sales pitch.

I remember when everyone said that NU, Mizzou, and CU would miss their Texas recruiting ties and they definitely do. I looked the numbers up a few weeks ago regarding Texas kids signed during the Big 12 days compared to the B1G days and it was pretty glaring that they have had to walk away from what was their go to recruiting area.

CMC has moved ISU away from texas recruiting and we are on the upswing so I no longer think its as big of a blow to lose those pipelines. I think looking at schools like Notre Dame and Nebraska are both similar case studies. TV contracts have evened the playing fields for both exposure and revenue.

I think the lack of national success the last 10-15 years and the schedule changes to the B1G are the largest part of the change in attitude for Nebby fans. The B1G West is a pretty boring division for their fan base where they have to wait every 4-5 years before they have a good homeslate (i.e. 2021 home games are tOSU, Mich, Iowa, Wisc). 2020 is awful (Purdue, PSU, ILL, Minn). With a lack geographical and historical ties to those opposing fanbases/programs and Lincoln seems like a lonely place out west in the B1G.

Notre Dame is an absolute joke.

(Almost) Nobody does less with more. According to metrics, they have been the #3 most overrated team of the last 10-20 years

Nebraska well represented at #5 though

The writing is on the wall. NEBRASKA FOOTBALL IS DEAD. Iowa much much better positioned right now in the Big 10.
Riley is another flop; why the heck did they hire him. Nebraska is turning into a Hawkeye punching bag at this point. Heck as soon as PJ gets Minnesota respectful again I could see Nebraska finishing 4th in the Big 10. What if they finished 4th multiple years in a row. Then you fire Riley and start over.

Every week I listen the podcast Big Red Overreaction on Soundcloud.
Their fans are really becoming complacent and getting sick of watching.
10-15 years ago if Nebraska got piss pounded in the first half by Oregon or nearly lost to Ark St. there would be hell to pay.
Now they have resorted to laughter to pass the days.
Nebraska is quickly becoming a Latino dominated community in the rural areas; very quickly.
The white farm boys have dried up folks.

This is Iowa State's chance to rise in the pecking order.
Golden Opportunity with Missouri and Nebraska settling into college football punching bag hell.
And once the wizard of manhattan retires huge opportunity for CMC and the team.
