The "I didn't know anything" worked on the NCAA with the strippers. Will it work this time with the FBI?

Old Rick will just rat out every head coach in the country to save his ass, and come out the other side better because they are less good coaches in the game.

I wonder how far back they will go. I'm fairly certain CSP and GMAC did it clean. Fred probably did also, with only bringing in like 4 freshmen. Any other coach has me a bit worried.

Floyd was dirty after ISU, so hopefully that started post-ISU and not earlier. I agree Eustachy and Morgan are unknowns. Orr was clean.

Yeah there is no way that Floyd was clean only after ISU. But it really doesn't matter, they aren't going back that far because they have nothing.

Without divulging too much, a best friend of mine worked with student athletes (academics) back when Floyd was coach. TF may not have done what the FBI is investigating, but he and Gar were VERY SHADY. I loved the TF teams & their mental toughness, but I am SOOO glad that he is no longer our coach.

I would agree that Fred's successful high school recruits -- a bunch of guys that had no business in P5 programs, Naz Mitrou-Long deciding to prove everybody wrong, and then a few high 3* and low 4* players (Niang, Morris, Thomas, etc.) that Fred forged into weapons of mass destruction through their character and his coaching -- were probably out of range of what the AAU handlers wanted and surrounded. Fred was an incredible Xs and Os coach; there is a reason he made it to the NBA, even if the Bulls stink. He made modest pieces into incredible weapons.

I wonder how "clean" was transfer recruiting, on the other hand. Do we think that Royce White and BDJ came here with no strings attached to them? They clearly had NBA talent and came out of programs/circuits with some shadiness behind them. Had handlers already given up on them as washouts by that point, leaving us to have a clean slate? Was there nothing behind the scenes with guys like Maurice Jones or DeAndre Kane or anybody else? I do not know, but that is where I suspect the trouble would be (if it is there with the ISU program of late).

Prohm seems like the most on-the-level guy in the business, but we really have no real evidence of knowing that. I hope Wigginton's recruitment was squeaky clean.

I just laughed out loud for like 5 minutes at the thought of Orr doing this... would be totally within his wheelhouse
He really did this. I cant remember if it was 2 hours but like 1/4 of the time it actually took, he told the players mothers the could drive down whenever the wanted to. before the internet lol.

There were rules written because of what Floyd was doing. I doubt he was very clean at ISU.

Clearly I've got some details wrong. It's been many years ago and I'm getting old. But the jist of the story is true. A shoe rep said he could deliver Daniels and LE said go **** yourself. Unfortunately, the person who told me is no longer alive.

I believe it. Sounds like you flipped Nike and Adidas, but the story checks out.

I was in the pep band, and there was apparently some discussion about whether the NCAA would make us cover the 3 stripes on the sides of our pants for the tournament. You know, protecting the TV audience from branding and crass commercialism.

Jay Bilas and Seth Greenberg on ESPN's "Mike and Mike" said that they "can't imagine" how Rick Pitino (and the Louisville AD) survive this scandal.

I know there is no way he'll get that much, but that seems a tad excessive.
On "Mike and Mike", Jay Bilas downplayed the idea of long sentences based on the fact that these might be important issues for college sports but US attorneys have much higher priorities. He said that you might be talking about "months" if anyone serves time.
