Not exactly sure.
So how many players are going to be ruled ineligible this season? I feel bad for this kid in the sense that it says that his family received the money on his behalf. Sure it's sketchy as hell, but honestly the kid knows enough that he can't take any money directly, and I'm sure these coaches/agents/financial advisers were telling him that this is "just how it's done." It's honestly no different than what Reggie Bush did

I feel bad if he has to pay back the money. I have no sympathy is he gets 100k and pays nothing back. I figure it will cost my kid 100k to go to college for four years, he has college paid whether he plays or not if he keeps it.

I think all players should get paid a little bit regardless of their ability, kind of like as much as other kids get paid for being in a work study program.

After that, kids should be able to sign endorsement deals and make money off of their likeness. A guy like Georges could have made an absolute killing at a school like ISU. Plus then we might get NCAA football and basketball games back.

They dont look at Prohm do they? There is a Kenutcky connection with Murray State, I assume they can get a much bigger name, but he is a clean cut guy they can sell as cleaning up the program? Just spitballin

Go after fran, heard he gives spending money and allows free use of a car for a current player and future recruit. :)

This was actually a fear of mine as well. I'm sure they look at him. The fact that the season starts in a month works in our favor - I don't see Prohm bailing on his players before the start of the season. Had this story happened in July then Prohm would have been the best candidate available.

I was kind of thinking along the same lines. The time to "experience the process" (wink wink) would have been before yesterday...

Here's a real plot twister but what if the bag man dropped of a ringer?

I think this might create a seismic shift in coaching hires too. Adidas, Nike, and UA money is going to dry up at these big schools, or at least they are going to be much much much more careful in how they distribute their $$ to these schools.

I also hope that a smart coach who is currently safe from this scandal will want to remain safe and avoid a job at any school with a history of paying recruits.

So when do we find that the NCAA had an idea that this was going on but hid it to cover their marquee programs?

The problem is that the NCAA isn't able to gather hard evidence like the FBI. There is a ton of cheating going on but these guys are able to keep the paper trail fairly clean and the NCAA can't gather the evidence that they need.

Why would a rising coach go to Louisville when they're about to get hit hard? Post season ban, loss of scholarships, etc. No way.

Ever since Oregon burst onto the scene with all of their Nike money I've had a hard time understanding where the line needs to be drawn as far as the amount of involvement these companies have within the program. To me it has always seemed pretty shady.
