I need a diversion from football. Anyone else?

What's something you've done later in life than other people?

Did you never own a pet until you were an adult?
Have you never learned to swim?
Did you see your first movie in a theater last week?

I took my first plane trip when I was a senior at ISU. It was for an interview. I flew from Des Moines to KC and switched planes. We left KC and had to return back to KC half an hour later due to mechanical concerns. I ended up landing in Dallas around midnight instead of 8PM.

Needless to say, I didn't understand people's desire to fly after that initial flight.

I wasn't a football fan until I got to college. Most people who love football grew up watching it as a kid, but I hardly ever did. I was just a baseball fan.

Then, in 1998 I watched the "streak breaker" game in the Cy-Hawk game and was totally hooked. That started my love of football and my fandom for the Cyclones.

Graduated college (ISU) at the age of 33. Worked straight out of high school and back in 2014 (after getting my AA from DMACC) I quit working to go to ISU full-time. What was scary is that I had a mortgage, car payment, stay-at-home wife, and two kids (#2 was born while I was taking summer classes).

I'd say it's probably substantially easier to just go to college straight out of high school.

I was a football fan growing up but that same game my sophomore year switched me pretty hard in the rivalry from a "cheers for both" to a true diehard ISU fan.

I've never had a kid. Younger wife is starting to push for it. I'm coming up to a pretty substantial milestone on the odometer

So.....I could be a late bloomer if I knock one past the goalie

I think some of you are missing the point of the question. They're asking about things you HAVE done later in life, but DID NOT do earlier in life. They're not asking about things you never did and still haven't done yet.

Basically that would make you a late comer to fatherhood.

I also took my first commercial flight as a senior at ISU and flew from Des Moines to KC. But that was it. Would have probably driven but my car was a POS. I had flown in my uncle's 2 seater for about 20 minutes the summer before which was my actual first time in flight.

Took two years between end of HS and start of college so was two years older than most of the other students in my classes. Didn't make much difference socially as those were the days it was legal to drink at 18.

I won't even mention how old I was the first time I had sex. I'm sure it was older than 50% of the population. We'll just leave it there. Fortunately I believe I've been able to catch up after that late start.
