I thought it was the "Underground"

You said that right. I have never heard a phrase more times in one day.

If I ever get a chance to go to London (which, for some odd reason, is one of my goals in life), I'm watching Formula 51 again before I go just so I can develop my bad impression of the locals BEFORE I get there...

I thought London was very close to going into any big city in the U.S. just more expensive. The people were nice and it was very clean compared to other cities I've been to.

Too bad you couldn't take the train from Heathrown to Paddington. Convenient and cheaper. Although maybe not convenient for your hotel.

Ok, here are the things I have noticed so far about London:

Beer: wow, these guys drink beer all the time, I love it.

Smell: This city stinks! They just leave garbage on the curb and someone comes and gets the bags. There is trash everywhere, it is the dirtiest city I have ever seen.

Food: blah! So far a non event.

Service: Makes NY seem like good service.

Buildings: Very cool old buildings, great craftsmanship, no open spaces in the entire city.

Traffic: I am not sure how more people are not killed trying to get around, this place is nuts.

Women: I did not expect this, but wow the women are incredible here. This must be the highest population of beautiful women anywhere in the world.

Weight: Everyone here is skinny. I am not a big guy myself, and I look obese here.

Language: English speaking is the minority here, I here more french and german than english.

Overall: Fun city, lots of stuff to see and do, just don't come for the service or food.

Maybe it was where I was located but I didn't think the traffic was bad at all compared to Rome where it very chaotic. The only problem I had was with looking in the wrong direction at crosswalks. It's hard to change a 37 year old habit. You know this is an issue when they spray paint on the pavement which direction to look.

Once again, maybe it was the area I was in but it was very clean. We stayed in the Westminster area by the Victoria station..

Ok, I just changed my mind on food. I just walked 200 feet from the office and got fresh sushi as a takeout. That is nice. There are lots of healthy places to eat unlike Iowa where it is fried food on every corner.

We enjoyed Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. I was leaning against a wall waiting for my wife to "use the loo" and an Asian tourist came up and started closely inspecting me like I was one of the statues. It was pretty funny when I moved...she jumped out of her skin.

Also, make sure you get some "Spotted ****" and "Toad-in-the-Hole" to eat...just to say you did.

We are right next to the Old Street station, the hotel is near the liverpool station. Maybe it is just this area that is dirty, because you are right, I never saw trash in Westminster.
