People underestimate the draw of opening weekend of pheasant season as well as harvest. I know plenty of iSu fans who religiously hunt opening weekend and football has been so bad and hgas disappointed so many times they simply won't alter that tradition.

Good news is moisture was taken out of the forecast so farmers should have a great week of harvest after being handcuffed all fall. Bad news is farmers are behind and the colder weather will freak them out so they won't want to leave the fields

For anyone w/ a previous engagement Saturday, I'd be more than happy to fill your seats at no additional cost.

I don't think anyone is personally calling you lame if your life doesn't allow you to go to the game. If they are, that is not right. But I will be the first one to call our fan base lame if we cannot get 60,000 at this game when we sold out UNI and Iowa.

I would hope that we expanded our stadium to fill up huge Big 12 conference games like this one. And not non-conference games to an FBS and in-state rival. I hope the fan base proves me right this weekend.
Ummmmm
Lame fans. Hopefully they’ll get it at some point.

NO ONE is saying the sky is falling because we've only sold 53,000 tickets. That's an average game for us. But THIS IS NOT AN AVERAGE GAME. This is arguably the biggest game at JTS in 15 years and we are struggling to top a typical UNI crowd. That should not happen.

UNI and Iowa are early season rivalry games that have had great weather, great tailgating and prior to harvest. Unfortunately, due to lack of success, people attend iSu games as much, if not more, for the tailgating.

So basically we expanded our stadium for visiting fans? If that's true (I hope its not), we deserve all of the "Iowa is our Superbowl" jabs.

Ultimately, I think we'll push close to 60k tickets but if we cannot sell out this game - what game WILL we sellout that's not Iowa or UNI?

It's at 2:30. That is huge. Warmest time of the day and plenty of time to have a few adult beverages. I HATE the 11:00 am start times. Football should never be played in the morning. Never.

1st place outright will be determined by this game..... there is NO reason to stay home. Time to show CMC and the nation who we are!
No it won't. iSu could win and will still be tied with either OSU or WV.

Where are they and what are you asking?

$60/ticket

They are mobile pass season tickets, so I wont know until a day before the game where the seats are. So far, I've had pretty nice seats. Kansas game was section 30, row 2.

All the non-corner sections are currently selling for $65 or more, so mine are going for a little less than that.

No but saying it is ridiculous if we don't sell out, don't deserve Campbell, aren't a good fanabse, etc, etc, etc after the absolute ******* program we have been for the last 40 years is asinine.

It shows an absolute lack of knowledge of current trends regarding college athletic attendance. Lack of understanding what fans of the program have sat through for 40 years. Lack of understanding of the kick in the nuts motto. Lack of understanding of how people who put iSu ahead of other things for DECADES may have decided a while ago to take one weekend a year and do something else.

I'll give you a couple more things that probably don't affect you but directly affect people I know.

State Cross Country meet is being held in Ft Dodge with heat start times ranging from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Girls high school swimming regionals are being held throughout the state at 12:00 PM. Numerous Saturday Pee Wee football leagues, soccer leagues, VB leagues throughout the state.

As I mentioned earlier...Opening Pheasant Season is a ritual for many iSu fans. Fans that have taken the day off in the past only to be rewarded with the Cyclones pissing games away. Now those people have a tradition meeting old friends.

I have season tickets. I will make every game this year but the Texas game. I missed the Texas game because it was Senior night and my daughters last home high school swim meet. I have spent the last 8 years driving my daughter around the state(and to neighboring states) all year for swim. Saturday, she swims high school Regionals for the last time. She also qualified for State Cross Country in Fort Dodge.

Would I be a bad fan, if I missed the game to watch my daughter run in the State Cross Country meet? How about missing her qualify for State Swim in her Sr year?

I agree. I think it goes back to the discussion about changing the culture around the program. Obviously the players have bought in all the way, but they don't carry the baggage that most fans do. Like David Montgomery doesn't care about Troy Davis getting screwed out of the Heisman or whether or not Seneca was in (he was). KCM couldn't care less about the OU massacre or missed FGs that would have won a Big 12 North title.

I suspect there's a pretty good chunk of the fanbase still waiting for the other shoe to drop. They've just seen too much. They'll come around, but it'll take a little time.
Exactly. What is crazy is it was only 6 years ago when iSu beat Okie St and a lot of fans thought we had just turned the corner...only to lose out the rest of the year.

Unfortunately, iSu fans don't have the short attention span of today's society. Those groin kicks have left very deep bruises and have even left some sterile.

Actually if you look at the bolded that I quoted....

I've been to nearly every home game for the last 17 years and I completely disagree. Staying home does not necessarily mean you are not a good fan. Everyone's circumstances are different. You just better not ***** about attendance or the crowd behavior in general if you aren't going to games.
The poster said he knows vocal fans that have never been to a game. Maybe they’ve bought tickets and gave them away, or maybe they just donate, and if so that’s a different case. But not all fans are good fans, and the worst are those that are critical yet don’t support the program. Don’t be so insecure. I assume many, if not most, on CF are better fans than me.

The AD is selling get in the stadium tickets for a little over $35 a piece. We definitely don't have the "too expensive" excuse going this week.

In reality, A lot of those fans have been repeatedly kicked in the nuts by iSu football. Unfortunately, it will take more than a good season to get them to change their traditions. It will take sustained success with spikes of great years.

I go to as many games as humanly possible but I don't begrudge fans who have come to iSu and finally moved on.
I don’t disagree, and it will take time to get people like that back. I was one under CPR, and I fully admit to being lame in those instances.

I'm not blaming farmers or fans with children, we should have enough fans excited for this game without the small percentage who have to miss Saturday. If our corners are empty I will be pretty upset.

  1. there are never a lot of opposing fans because of the lack of publically sold tickets.
  2. Some people actually buy season tickets for the sole purpose of only attending those two games, selling their tickets and coming out even. This has been happening for decades with Nebraska and years we play UNI/iowa.
  3. Stadium expansion was as much about being a Big 12 team/stadium and belonging in a P5 as it was about selling seats.
iSu finished 6th in the Big 12 last year in average attendance with 3 freaking wins and a loss to an FCS team. Beating KSU, only 1000 behind OSU and withing 5,000 of WV, TT. It is crazy to say if we don't fill the stadium Saturday we don't deserve Campbell, are bad fans, etc.

Nice try.
You mean it’s Iowa’s (and UNI’s) Super Bowl. If we hit 59k or 60k there will be more ISU fans in JTS than at the Iowa game.
