I would imagine Pollard has been working on a contract extension/raise for a few weeks now. I would imagine in the next couple weeks something will get announced.

It better be announced this week.

It better be at least $3mil and 4 years. I'd like to see the same incentives, too.

the OP said longer term, higher salary, and reduced incentives to make up for the higher salary. i don't think it gave a date, but i read elsewhere someone who said the same thing mentioned it would be today or tomorrow. could be a case of cyclical sourcing, though.

Yup manning needs to go, Every game we have lost this year is because of the offense. The defense has played its hearts out and the offense could not even muster a few scores.

I am really hoping I am missing a jimlad here. 2 of our losses we scored 41 and 42 points, hard to put that on the offense. The other 3 sure I can jump on board, but lets not act like an offense averaging 30 ppg, was the sole reason for going 7-5.

I'd be fairly happy with any kind of extension as of now.

I agree, but more than that, with the extension, protect yourself with a bigger buyout....

The buyout isn’t going to be bigger. We are lucky we had the big one from the start. I bet very few coaches have the type of buyout Campbell has.

Campbell needs to be here through the 2023-2024 reshuffling.

Nothing else matter, JP. That is the meteor coming for the dinosaurs.

We have to be well-positioned in football at that time. Make it happen.

I bet a lot of future contracts WILL have this type of clause to protect the university. You're taking a chance on the coach hire. You should have some sort of buy-out protection in case he doesn't meet his contractual obligation to stay until the end of the contracted period.

Of course the schools want it. The coaches won’t sign it though.

There needs to be a balance. So far the coaches always seem to get their whole contracted salary even when they suck and get fired. But the universities get squat when they jump ship earlier for greener pastures.

I think the pendulum will swing a bit more that way. JMHO.

it depends if the buyouts are universal from a pillage versus let go perspective. A lot of the firing over the weekend had huge buyouts.... I think pushing over 10 mil is just going to show commitment from both sides....

I'm not too worried. Campbell gave Toledo a chance to match Iowa State's offer (or get close). If Campbell has any interest in leaving, I'm sure he'll give Iowa State a chance to match. Unless someone offers him 6-8 million a year, he'll be at Iowa State.
