The Cactus would be a great bowl, if it was not on the 26th. It will be the least attended ISU Bowl game of the bunch. Memphis might be the least desireable location, but the easiest to travel too, that would have a ton of Cyclone fans for that reason only.

In reality we get Phoenix if everyone else passes on us and the likelihood of the Liberty Bowl passing on us is pretty slim. If we slip past Houston and Orlando the Liberty Bowl probably takes us...............Phoenix may never get a chance to ask.

I'm willing to wager that JP isn't too happy that Memphis is going to be playing in their own backyard and that he 's politicking to drop down to the Cactus Bowl. On paper Iowa St playing Oregon or UCLA looks much better than playing Memphis.

On local radio JP has already mentioned that Memphis is a likely destination. So I do not think he is that disappointed.

Ok. So to keep this in perspective, since McCarney, here are the 8 bowls ISU has played in(by city):
Phoenix-very well travelled in 2000, solid from 2009.
Shreveport-decent turnout both times.
Boise-nightmare
Houston-slightly disappointing however that bowl focused their advertising in Dallas area for TCU.
NYC-ok at best
Liberty-great turnout despite playing Tulsa a 2nd time.
-So selling points for ISU, never been to FL so will travel well. Nobody else in contention has two better wins than OK and TCU. Lanning...

Wasn't that the other day before the AAC was trying to work Memphis into the Liberty Bowl? I'm not saying my previous statement was fact but rather trying to make sense out of the recent Iowa State to the Cactus Bowl predictions.

The Big 12 adding the Pinstripe Bowl is right up there for top head scratching decisions.

I just think he knows that someone before Phoenix is choosing us. I assume the Liberty has told him if we are there to pick than they will. Not sure were in position to pass on an invite.

It being on a Saturday is the only reason I'm pulling for Memphis. That's the only way I could go.

If this is true and it holds out to the end of December then the Cactus Bowl looks like a pretty good spot to me:

You mean if Florida St. doesn't make it. Otherwise this makes no sense. Plus isn't the Liberty Bowl an SEC and not an ACC tie in? You sure it doesn't depend on how many teams the SEC gets in to the New Years 6?

Dude honestly idk. I was just saying someone detailed it out on page like 28 but was too lazy to search for it. When I read it, it seemed like a possibility.

What do you think about the committee having a long memory and being generous with TCU since they screwed them out of the Playoffs previously? If TCU wins, they are in the playoffs. And even if they lose respectfully, they are still in a NY6 bowl.

There is 0% chance that TCU makes the playoff

After how Cyclone fans showed up to Memphis last time I highly doubt they would pass on us.

No, they don't care about TCU or the Big XII. Only tOSU, Bama, B1G, or $EC.

Has life taught you nothing?
