He is among a handfull of really good players that had 4 year careers so yeah he put up some numbers and he is worthy of having his jersey in the rafters. I am just saying if I were to take every cyclone at the peak of their cyclone career he wouldn't be in my all time starting lineup. He would be in my 8 man rotation though.
Any list is wrong that does not include Grayer and Stevens. IT's the other two spots up for debate. Also, it was a long time ago but Gary Thompson was an all American. Orr started the magic. Hoiberg was a coach and player. Fizer took us further than ever and was our first and only McDonalds all American. Lots of guys. However, Grayer and Stevens are not debateable. They were just the best we have ever had as players at ISU.
You were the first and only person to mention Hornacek. I think he is really being unappreciated by a lot of those who have posted. Best point guard in ISU history (in my humble opinion)
I love Tinsley as much as anyone but you are out of your mind if you are going to put a 2-year player on your best-ever at ISU top-4 list.
Wrong opinion. Tinsley was the best ever PG here and it's not even close. Then Hornacek and Holloway/Blalock/Stinson.
His 3 year averages were 22.3 points 13.7 rebounds.

I get Grayer but what so special about Stevens? Sure the individual stats are good but he only made to the tourney once, zero conference championships. I feel like people over hype him because he played in the " good ole days". Any list with out Niang (only isu 2 time all-american) is a joke, he's way more accomplished and has had a far bigger impact on the program.
As in Jacey Holloway? Umm not even close to being a top point guard. I would take Justice Thigpen any day over Jacey. Don't get me wrong. He was a solid player. However, he was more like Kyle Kempt. Just kind of didn't screw up and helped the stars succeed.
BTW Someone give the Roland Rocket some love. I honestly know he was awesome but can't say I actually saw him play.
Stevens was our first superstar. He made it ok for players like Grayer to come play for Orr and it was OK. Stevens can't help that the rest of the team was not as good.
My bad on Thigpen vs. Holloway. Although Thigpen was another transfer. I didn't realize he played the true PG role, thought he was a wing guy.
My opinion:

Orr = Jefferson - the building block on which the entire foundation has been built
Grayer = Lincoln - changed everything and possibly the best we've ever had
Hoiberg = Roosevelt - a powerful figure in ISU history with almost mythical status. Embodies everything ISU stands for.

Seems to me I remember your 4th name on the list leaving us high and dry for his senior year....we may have a National Championship banner hanging in Hilton had he returned (not ripping him for leaving, simply arguing against your Hoiberg point).
