One of the worst defensive plays ever. I thought the saints had overcome the one sided officiating then completely blew it.

Saints DB put in a tough spot there, either:

1) Hit the WR and get called for PI thus putting the Viking in winning FG range or

2) Pull up like he did and hope there was someone else there to make the tackle (which there wasn't).

It looked like the safety knew he was going to get there early so he moved to the side so he wouldn't end up getting a pass interference call there. Problem is he didn't have anyone to back him up when he couldn't make the play.

Your post only makes sense if the Vikings threw it down the middle of the field and scored the TD that way. The Saints guarded the sidelines, the Vikings threw it to the sidelines anyway (because they didn't have a choice), and the Saints DB mistimed what was going to be his hit.
