I thought Michael Strayhan's comment in the post game show about Stefan Diggs reminding him of the receiver from the Jerry Maguire movie was absolutely hilarious!

This is exactly what happened. Should never have been up that quick, gotta stay behind him and make the tackle. But he definitely went low to avoid PI.
He still had to make the tackle in bounds which was not a given. Diggs almost went out of bounds on his own anyway and would have left the Viking with about a 47 yarder for the win.

So happy for Zim and Case Keenum.

And that ending could not have happened to a better coach than 'Target-gate' Sean P.

Case is lucky he’s remembered for the end instead of the insanely stupid pass that got the Saints right back in the game and a poor second half. The second half was a perfect example of why you want a hall of fame veteran instead of a journeyman QB in the playoffs until the last play.

Case’s season is a good story and all but everyone should be much happier for the players today that were also part of the Blair Walsh debacle. They finally had one go their way and that group is the main reason for the season the Vikings have had.

Defensive back tried to make the big look at me hit rather than keeping his head up and just wrapping up. It was not about avoiding PI. Terrible defense that is systemic at all levels these days. Ducked his head and succeeded at taking out the only other player that maybe could have made the tackle.

There is no way a professional defensive back would whiff that badly on a tackle.

He got there a little too soon and was trying to avoid contact. A PI call there would have given them an easy fg. You can bet that was the last thing talked about in the defensive huddle right before that play.

Exactly, he didn't just duck his head, he actively avoided the contact because he thought he was going to be early. Unfortunately for him he tackled the only defender that had any hope of touching Diggs then.

Really not sure what that guy was doing. You are the back of the defense, you can't let someone get behind you. Square up and make the tackle. Not sure there was enough time left to get on and kick a FG. Would have been very close

This will definitely go down as one of those lifetime "do you remember where you were when..." moments for Vikings fans.

Fortunately, this one is a good memory, which is so refreshing!

Being a Cyclone/Vikings fan, I feel the need to continually pinch myself after our bowl game and now this Vikings ending!!

He mis-timed his hit is what it looked like to me, so just whiffed on purpose to avoid a devastating penalty.

I assume he thought he had help behind me, which didn' turn out to be the case.

I honestly thought at first Diggs needed to get out of bounds and was screaming at him to step out, then a second later I realized nobody was back there.

He was where he was supposed to be but just mis timed it and got there too soon. Plays like that coaches scream not to get a PI especially when it puts them in field goal range. He was simply avoiding a PI call but took out his own teammate in the process.

There was about 5 seconds left when Diggs caught the ball. Enough time if they forced him out but it was game over if the tackles made in bounds unless they stop clock to set chains which I can never remember NFL rule on that.

College stops on first down....NFL doesn't.

Wrong.

DB avoided making the hit because he knew he mistimed it and it would have been PI. The problem was he took out his own teammate, the only remaining guy that could have stopped the WR after the catch.

I'd have to imagine the PI + a 40-some yard field goal for a guy who missed one already in the game is probably still a better look than flat-out losing on a 61-yard TD, but hindsight's 20/20. It was both a terrible play for the safety and a ridiculous play for Diggs.
