Way up there
Yes we will be good next year.

How good?

Not Kansas good.

NCAA Tournament good? Yes.

8/9/10 seed line, IMO.

This. Hoiberg years 2 or 3 is where I see next years squad from a w/l/seeding standpoint but with a higher ceiling due to a more balanced roster and depth.

K-State has basically everyone coming back and will be a solid team. Texas they will have everyone come back, except Bamba and will have a deep team. Baylor has a solid core behind those guys and Scott Drew finds a way.

So Baylor isn't going to make the tourney AND are losing their two best players and they are a lock but we're returning our two best players, bringing in a high level transfer and a role player transfer and have a great recruiting class coming in and you don't think we're in? That makes no sense

Lewis reminds me of Matt Thomas a bit in his freshman year. Matt got more playing time, but their demeanor is about the same. A bit timid on offense and a liability on defense, but you can see the ability is there once the lightbulb comes on.
he doesn't lack for effort, which is great. I'm with you, I think he can become a really nice peice for us going forward. This offseason it is big for him to develop, both physically and mentally.

Depends on what success they have in the Big 12. Once again, Big 12 will be deep from top-to-bottom, and ISU will be a young team compared to other teams in the conference.
Some players will be young, but we will have upper class men in Shayok, Babb, Jacobson, Young, Talley, and still have sophomores in Wigginton, Lard, and Lewis. We will be much more experienced next year compared to this one.

Also, take a look at the rest of the league:

KU- They will be good, but alot will come down to how the Lawsons play.
TTU- Lose tons of upperclassmen and will be relying largely on underclassmen. I would imagine they are due for a drop off.
OU- They have some nice pieces, but Young is obviously gone.
WVU- Lose Miles and Carter but return everyone else. Should be Top 3 in the league again, but who knows with them.
Texas- Will return almost everyone but Bamba.
KState- Essentially lose no one, but will continue to be coached by Bruce Weber
Okie State- Lose Carroll and Solomon. I would imagine they should be near the bottom again next year.
Baylor- Lose LeComte, Lual-Acuil and Maston. Hard to imagine they take much of a step forward.
TCU- Graduate a few key guys, but return a decent core.

So out of that, teams that I think are due for a step back are Tech, OU and Baylor. Teams that should be about like they are this year would be TCU, Okie State and KU. Teams I think may take a step forward are WVU, K State and Texas.

I would imagine we should be somewhere in the 4-6 range, with KU, WVU logically being ahead of us and us being on the same plain as OU, Texas, KState and TCU.

Talley is not going to contribute next year. And there was mention last week by reporters that no one knows how Shayok is developing...
I have no doubt ISU will be more experienced but there is still going to rebuilding process with all the new guys. As previously stated, it all depends how quickly they gel.

I don't see WVU as a top 3 team next year because of one thing.. Ahmad. He almost left after last year so I think he is likely gone after this year. That means they lose Carter who is bar far the best player, Miles and Ahmad who may be their most talented offensive guy and their guards after that aren't that good. I think next year, KU- Kstate and Texas will be the top 3 teams. I think Baylor could struggle next year as will OSU. I think ISU can pass OSU, Baylor Tech and TCU and finish 6th.

Talley absolutely will contribute next year. Why on earth would you think he wouldn’t? I’ve heard only great things about Shayok.

To me, this is the quintessential rebuilding year that we have avoided for a long time due to transfers. Your concern with losing Jackson is not a concern for me. He is a 6th man on a good team forced to be a senior leader this season. He doesn't have it in him for that imo. We have a very young team and the majority of the older players are all new to the team as well so them not gelling or playing consistently is expected. Make no mistake the ass kickings they are taking this year is very helpful to building their character and forcing them out of their comfort zone to grow as players and as a team. I am betting ISU finishes top 3 in conference next season. Every player in the depth chart next season minus Tucker will have B12 experience which is very important.

PG: Babb (I am betting Tucker will get close to 10min a game in Big 12 play giving Babb a chance to play other positions)

SG: Wiggington, It's my hope this year will give him a boost in court IQ and knowing how to play a more team oriented style. I believe we will see some of Tucker and Lewis at this position as well.

SF: Shayok, the leader this team needs and what will be the glue to this team. I firmly believe he will be a huge leader for next years squad. I believe we will also see some Zion and Talley at this position as well.

PF: Lard, Will be a monster. A go to guy for points when we need it. Wigginton and Shayok will be experienced enough and talented enough by this time to draw defenders and double teams opening Lard up for countless big nights. His ability to run the floor is very difficult to defend. Off the bench, I am guessing we will see Talley and Jacobson get time here too.

PF: Young, I have come around to Young probably starting over Talley but not necessarily getting more minutes. Talley wont play here but I expect young to be the same guy more or less with maybe better court vision and improvement around the rim. I think Jacobson gets time in the position as well.

As for anyone else, I could see some spare minutes but there wont be as many open opportunities for playing time like this season.

I think this teams biggest weakness is experience and not playing with each other long enough to anticipate their teammates actions and abilities. More than anything, I want Wiggington to understand this with regards to Lard as that duo could do some serious damage offensively.

Talley wont play at all next year? That's laughable.

Talley should have a role next year. And Shayok doesn't need to develop a whole lot from the player he was at Virginia. I'm not worried about Shayok's offseason and Prohm has mentioned he spends more time working on his game than anyone on the team.

Why do you say that? I think he's going to be a great 6th man next year.

Sooners lose Trae Young and don’t really have a strong class signed. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to finish ahead of them. West Virginia will be down as well.

You're right Talley will contribute. Travis Hines made mention that there has been little information shared on Shayok and his development.
