I know for a fact Bruce Weber gets his steak well done, so that right there puts him at the bottom.

Win at Illinois, go to KU, lose at Illinois, go to K-State

  8. Bruce Weber

7-9 are the toughest to rank. 5-6 is basically a tie.
5-8 seem tougher for me but yours is exact same as mine.

Yo @surly, how do you feel about BW after he shat his slacks against Tech tonight. Even Prohm (the 8th best coach in the league according to you) could beat Beard on his home court...

Everyone should have Boynton over Smart. He’s already proved to be 10x the coach Smart is in one year. They are even tied in the Big 12 right now and Texas is way more talented. Smart has pretty much been a total failure at Texas.

Prohm, Boynton, and Beard are all coaches that will rise.

Big 12 is crazy good. If you tell me a few years ago Shaka Smart would be at Texas and quite possibly the worst coach in the league, definitely 4th out of the 4 Texas schools in the B12, I’d say you’re crazy.

I don’t really think he’s a good coach though at all and basically caught lightning in a bottle 1 year at VCU. It’s actually impressive how bad he’s done while pulling down more talent than 90% of the conf.

Here are some of the records Bruce Weber is against coaches in our league. Surly has 5th by the way.

Bill Self 2-12
Steve Prohm 1-4
Bob Huggins 4-9
Chris Beard 1-3
Scott Drew 6-6
Shaka Smart 3-2 (worst coach in the league)
Jamie Dixon 2-1
Lon Kruger 8-3 (does this guy lose to KSU on purpose?)

Not all that impressive.

No it's not. If one team makes the Elite 8 I'll be amazed.

As for Weber, @chuckd, after getting boat-run by TxT, it doesn't change my opinion. He's a .500 in-conference coach here so far at 51. He was 89-65 at Illinois in Big 10 games. 62-28 at Southern Illinois.

He's 9-18 against top 10 teams here. Tex Winter finished his K-State stay 10-17.

So, losing to TxT, a far superior opponent, doesn't change my view. Bruce is accomplished. But he needs to win some more games this year and get a dance card. Do that and I'm fine with coming back. His squad returns in-tact.

That doesn't mean that Big 12 isn't crazy good. Right now 70% of the league is projected to make the tourney and the conference is #1 in RPI.
That means the league is good.

Crazy good to me means a couple Final 4 candidates. I don't even see one making the Elite 8. But yes, lots of parity and solid teams, from top to bottom. Everyone could be in postseason, NCAA or NIT.

You are really clueless. Bruce has been at KSU much longer than beard. Shouldn’t he, if he’s a superior coach, have good enough athletes to beat Tech?

Would you say that about Bill Self? And starting off with "You are really clueless" doesn't exactly show a lot of crispness for conversation. How old are you, seriously?

I guess I'll just roll with RPI.
The Final Four is a 50% crap shoot in my opinion. 2 teams that I totally think belong, and 2 teams that definitely surprised me.
I didn't expect SC last year, or even Oregon after one of their better players was hurt.

This year, if I had to pick today it would be Purdue, Carolina, Tenn, Rhode Island. A lot of seniors on those teams.

Today, Michigan State, Arizona, UVA and X. I do like Purdue. But they're not the most athletic. Ohio State is also solid. Love their new coach. Cincinnati is under the radar. Lots of potential winners.

Weber is what he is. He'll have K-State in that bubble conversation most years, but that's about the best he'll be at K-State.

Boynton is better than Self, too.

I wasn't making that argument. Of course anyone can beat anyone. But surly said that Weber was beat by a far superior team. Part of coaching is making sure that after more than 5 years a coach has a lot of talent.
