Just had a phone call that involved me asking a lady to repeat every single thing she said because she insisted on conducting the entire phone call using a ****** speaker phone with what sounded like jet turbines being tested in the background. Oh, and I think she was eating something as the same time.

Bonus: she kept getting more and more angry with me as the call went on because I kept asking her to repeat herself.
I will usually just inform the caller that there is a lot of noise on the line and I am having a hard time hearing them. If it persists, I will suggest we disconnect and try dialing again. Usually they get the message.

Then again she could be one of these:

If you are female, and not smoking hot, you have zero chance of being on a news network. Or almost anywhere else, for that matter. The men, on the other hand, can be lumpy and hairy and even a troglodyte, and if they say the right things, it's a done deal.

This is one thing that really pisses me off.....it's not like there aren't women out there who would bring a great deal to the table and aren't exactly trophy gals. But we'll never know those women, I guess.

One of my managers was over there and he said to me "Dude, you'd stick out like a sore thumb being tall and white"

When I was working in the UK 5-6 years ago there were like 20 Indians. I towered over all of them and I'm only 6'2"

yeah when he told me this story I was like wait, being your height is an anomaly? He's like duh, yeah. I guess I hadn't realized that. But yeah, DH is your height with dark blond hair. So he definitely stood out.

That was one that used to bug me when I was still working. I have hearing issues, and excessive background noise is tough for me to filter out. Basically, I used to ask people if they had me on speaker phone, and if they said yes, I would explain that I could not understand what they were saying on the speaker, and would politely ask them to turn it off so that I would be able to hear them properly. Most people were pretty cool about it.

I took cabs, buses and the PM drove when he was there. I wouldn't mind driving in the countryside but the traffic in that town was crazy busy. The roundabout near my hotel had stop lights in it. That was the only way they could get a reasonable traffic flow.

Last time I was there I just took the train into town. After that everything was within walking distance. Horsham is a small town.

Obviously in the land of Lilliputians. :p

My hubby is around volleyball players way too much. He thinks the average height of females is like 5'9-5'10". True average of American women is more like 5'4"-5'-5". Oldest is below average height (and done growing).

She had volleyball practice last night and an older (17 or 18U) team practices after hers. I swear these girls are all at least 6'3" with legs for days.

lol, this reminds me of my experience a couple of summers ago. Long Tall Sally had a popup store for a weekend in Itasca, so of course I went shopping. At 6'2", I've almost always been the tallest girl everywhere I go. The entire shop was full of 6'3", 6'5", even a couple of 6'7" women! Wow, it was so intimidating (but still really neat, it's so rare to see tall women.)

Just sent in my season ticket request for Wisconsin football! I'm pretty sure my friends and I will be able to get them (I guess it's possible that my friends and I could be denied because there are too many requests) and it'll be a lot of fun going to games with them as grads
