No, Svi did NOT play the 4 regularly. My point exactly. He was FORCED there this season out of necessity as De Sousa and Preston were not eligible early in the year. Azubuike was literally their only true post to start the year along with Lightfoot who is garbage. Id imagine Bill Self would say it wasnt what he envisioned going into the year at all.

You have forotten how this conversation started. I said we don't need the transfer from South Dakota. Literally the position we need the least next year as Wigginton, Shayok and THT (and Lewis) will play the majority of minutes as 2/3. Might there be times when we play small and THT is playing a 4? Maybe. They will be few and far between though. He isnt playing 38 mins. a game at the 4 like Svi did this year. Period.

Good, you finally acknowledge that THT playing alongside three other guards and spending some time defending forwards, even those in the post, doesn’t go against anything. It’s consistent with his comments about liking how we’ve used Burton and Nader. He’ll be a great mismatch.

You’re very optimistic about our guards. They could be very good. But we definitely can get better there and have question marks. Our guard play wasn’t good last year. We add a part-time starter in Shayok and freshmen. The ceiling is high, but the floor is low enough that you shouldn’t get so flustered over someone thinking adding a good grad transfer would help.

I do wonder what staffs strategy is with grad transfers. On the surface it doesn’t make sense to add one with the roster ISU currently has but maybe they’re keeping some irons in the fire in case Wigginton goes pro?

It's interesting to say the least. I still think a sit out guard to replace Babb/Shayok/Wigginton is most crucial.

Listen, I'm done arguing about it. To be completely honest you don't seem to understand the game of basketball and the makeup of a roster. Svi and Burton were both forced to play the 4 due to necessity. KU had no other viable options at the 4. Literally zero. ISU Burtons senior year had absolute dog crap for the forward position. Next year we have Lard, Young, Jacobsen and Talley who are all better suited and will play more minutes at the 4 than THT. Add in a stretch four man in Griffin who had some impressive offers. This explains why the majority of his minutes played will be at his NATURAL position the 2/3. He is a shooting guard. We don't need him to play out of position. Done with you.

Lewis started playing much more with the TCU game late last year.

Assuming he can scale that up, he will be a very good shooter.

If Lewis can shoot like that against live ammunition next year, he will get a lot more playing time than we maybe anticipate. He would probably fight with THT.

Plus, he is some insurance for NWB being hurt or being on a pitch count.

Burton was brought in specifically to fill Georges' role of a mismatch forward who could play inside or outside depending on how (by whom) he was defended. It may have been necessity but the reason they were in that necessity is because that was how the roster was designed.

Dude, you're clueless. Deonte Burton was brought in because he was a freak athlete and a former top 50 ish recruit in the nation. You recruit as much talent as you can. Our roster wasn't designed and constructed to play 6'5" Deonte Burton at the 5 and 6'4" Nick Babb at the 4 during the home stretch of the Purdue game for a chance to go to the sweet 16. They were put there due to recruiting MISSES. They were put there due to necessity. Our frontcourt Burtons senior year was a joke. Morris/Long/Thomas/Burton deserved better.

You sure seem to know more than everyone else in this thread, don't you.

I never said that Burton was brought in to play the 5. He was brought in to play as a mismatch. They went small in that game because playing big wasn't working against Purdue's superior size. You can play as a mismatch at the 4 and that was what generally worked with his skillset - if a team put a big on him he stretched them to the outside, if a team put a guard on him then he would overpower them inside.

You should really learn to disagree with people without constantly insulting people. It is childish and unbecoming.

McEwen also has in homes with Creighton, Marquette, and Grand Canyon this weekend. The last one surprised me, I mean yeah they are a pretty good mid major with good fan support but McEwen could go just about anywhere with an open scholarship right now and GCU???

One thing I thought is they don't want any gaps this year since they have the talent to compete at a high level.
If they feel they need a shooter, go get the best one available.
Kind of put all their chips in on this season.
