Optimistic about the pickup. I like the PPG but as a sit 1 play 1, only 2 assists/per game is a little alarming considering he's 6'1. Hopefully a higher level league of basketball will help that but having played several years and still only 2 apg, a bit unusual. I'm not slighting the signing but just pointing out the obvious. Hopefully I turn out to be wrong and that number increases!

I hope this quiets the crowd that says Prohm cannot recruit transfers. Yes, he has not had much success with graduate transfers, but that market is infinitely tougher now then when Fred and Matt A. were the only games in town willing to take them.

Shayok and Jacobson are going to be at least contributors, as much as maybe the best player on the team (the former) and a potential starter (the latter). Nixon is going to be the heir apparent if Wigginton leaves after next season or at least solid depth.

If he can keep making strategic additions from the sit-out market, particularly the sit-one/play-one that other schools are less likely to pursue, on top of what he is doing with prep and high school players, we will have a very solid program going forward.

Just looking at the scholarship chart now is impressive for the class and positional balance that Prohm has rebuilt, even if last year was pretty rough.

Prentiss Nixon on his sit-out year: "From Day 1 we’re going to hit the ground running and really just get after it. We’re going to use this redshirt year to my advantage so when I’m ready to touch the floor you’ll see a totally different Prentiss Nixon."

Deandre Kane is the name that I've seen come up most.

He's not comparable to Kane as a player. Kane is being mentioned because he was able to significantly increase his shooting numbers and overall efficiency from Marshall to Iowa State. The hope is that if PN is not the #1 option and launching 8 three's per game, his shooting percentages will go up. Additionally, everything you find labels him as a plus defender though his defensive versatility may be somewhat limited due to his size.

I think the potential is there. Just needs to become more efficient.

I think he will get more efficient just being in a different system. Got to watch him play serveral times and he was the guard in Eustachy's system that got to hoist up a shot with 3 seconds left on the shot clock. Solid defensively. Maybe a situation somewhat like Shayok, offensive skilled player moving out of a grind it out system.

Another comparison I'd liken him to is Abdel Nader coming over from Northern Illinois. They don't play the same position and Nixon only has one year of eligibility, but they had similar volume/usage stats before transferring.

Nader final season @ NIU:
13.9 FGA/G, 33.7 FG%, 27.7 3P%, 77.2 FT%, 5.6 RPG, 0.9 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 3.2 TOG, 13.1 PPG

Nixon final season @ CSU:
13.7 FGA/G, 35.9 FG%, 33.0 3P%, 84.3 FT%, 3.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 2.1 TOG, 16.1 PPG

His shooting percentage was unimpressive too. I have faith that Prohm knows much more than I do and he'll fill a gap and provide leadership for us.

Let's hope our Nixon has a bit of thievery in him.

His per 40 steals...

= 1.8

Our team last year...

We did not generate a lot of turnovers last season.

Another reason we were not very good.

Off the grid
How many secret wars did he fight in Cambodia?

None. He's seen the Princess Bride.
