they have played 2 crap teams, but they havent made a single mistake (not counting jake christiansen... he doesnt count because mistakes are what he is best at)... i think we can take them but we gotta cut the mistakes. the personal fouls and avoidable penalties. cannot have any of that

So mistakes from Jake don't count just because he's good at them? Last I checked, he is the starting QB (unless a change is made this week), so...um...his mistakes do count.

Unless we're still using the "Drew Tate's mistakes don't count" methodology from '05.

Can we enjoy the Cyclone win tonight or are we going to continue stroking ourselves over Iowa?

I think that we are in better shape at this point of the season than we have been since at least 2005 and it has to be in the top group of season starts for us. If we improve like we did last season, I think that we may see a bowl game - or even a good bowl game! That is progress. I think that we will play much harder against Iowa and we will see much better play from the D. I'm going to say right now, ISU 42 Iowa 17. Why not?

Read your posts. You are giving some mad love to Iowa. Even more than what I read from some Hawk fans.

It's great you're not being a Cyclone homer. But this infatuation with Iowa and "how good they are" based on playing Maine and FIU is crazy.
i didnt say they were good.. i said we should be worried about them because honestly, i dont think we are that great. we have serious potential and we will be awesome by the end of the year, but you cannot say that we don't have a few bugs to work out? no love for iowa, i hate them... i am from a hawkeye family and my brother is a hawkeye "nerd." he knows every played they ever had and every stat etc... i get alot of hakeye crap shoved in my face so i know how good they are. i'm not saying they can beat us, im just saying if we make mistakes that we have been then it's gonna be a long day... but right now i could care less... we won tonight and are off to a 2-0 start!!!!! soon to be 3-0 and will be unbeaten when conf play begins!

LMAO!

They played FIU...not FSU. Seriously dude, I hope Iowa and all of their fans are believing what you are based on playing 2 very inferior opponents. Will make beating them much easier and a lot more fun.

I think you're way, way overestimating Kent State. Last week, Edelman passed for only 123 yards, with 2 INT, against BC (who Ga. Tech beat today), and Jarvis had only 51 on the ground.
We have big issues. Bruns said as much on the post-game.

Can you point to a post in which I or anyone else claimed ISU didn't have any bugs to work out?

Thanks.

I think we are heading for a 4-2 start at the very worse. If we can beat Iowa next week I am very confident that we will start the season 5-1 going into our 2 swing games Texas A&M and Nebraska.

dont think so? baylor, colorado, nebraska, k-st and a&m.. maybe oklahomo state too

We're gonna win 4 Big XII road games now? Quick - tell me when the last road game we won was.

If we don't beat Iowa, we're certainly not gonna win 4 conference road games.

Be prepared for Iowa fans to spout a lot of crap this week. We're averaging 46 points, but allowing 22 points a game. They've yet to allow a touchdown this season, and they're averaging 44 points a game. However, they're doing this while also keeping defense numbers low. No easy turnovers that bail them out of tough situations.

Turnovers are great, and if we're good at them, we'll win games, but it's a very volatile statistic. We won't always have them.

I know it's early, but I thought this about Kansas last year. "Oh, it's early, they're making a feast out of the cupcakes, they'll be exposed in the conference games."

This is the perfect opportunity to take them by surprise... they seem to lose very frequently when they're full of confidence, but they will be taking our offense very seriously. We have an offense, they have an offense. They have a defense, and right now, we don't. SDSU was a great showing until the last moments, but Kent State exposed some very troubling weaknesses. I fully expect next weekend to be a close game, but I'm erring on the side of a "loss". They'll be looking for payback for last year, and it's in Iowa City. If we can snag a win, AWESOME. I can't wait!

Our offensive line couldn't seem to do anything in the 4th when we were just wanting to run the ball. Hopefully that'll change by next weekend.
