Not exactly sure.
Hard to believe. I thought I knew all of the dozen or so liberals living in Iowa. One of them is even a farmer! Figure he is the lone liberal farmer in the whole state.

Times have changed over the last 20-30 years. Mason city is hard blue. Conservatives have an uphill struggle when trying to get any traction there. They even elected a homeless guy to city council. (Per my sis and BIL who live there, they are left leaning mods)

How in the world does Movie Pass stay in business?
$9.95 a month to see as many movies a month as you want but limited to one a day.
Do they think enough people are going to buy this and not use it just like a gym membership?
On average 2 movies a month would mean a 100% loss.

Who is bankrolling this operation? The theater chains must be supplying the money with the hope of increased concession sales which is predominately how they make their money.

Trying to be a Netflix’s type place. If you can chill there, maybe they will have something.

I've heard some things about this. They are taking a loss now, but supposedly they are going to use some of the information from people movie watching habits for something else in the future, and that's supposed to be how they make money. Also targeted marketing.

Right now those seats are empty if no one goes to that movie, so it's not really a loss for the theater. They also get concessions sales for most people every movie so that adds up fast.

For it to pay for me I'd need to watch a couple movies a month in the theater and there are not two movies out per month I'd care to watch.

Had a cold dose of reality today...

Noticed one of our selling supervisors wasn't quite as peppy as usual yesterday. Just thought it was an off day for her.

Then, another supervisor informed me today that said supervisor's family has been directly affected by the eruptions in Guatemala. Her mom is in the hospital with a broken leg, her younger brother is in a coma, and she's lost two uncles. And I guess the authorities down there are no where near as honest as they should be when it comes to different types of aid coming in to the area. :(

Work took longer than wanted today, didn't get to MC for the Mon nite ride. Did sneak in a 18 mile one 6 deer, 5 rabbits, 2 bikers and several walkers. It makes a difference if you go in a higher population area and on a real trail. Thunder and lightning made me decide to call it. Got lightly sprinkled on before getting back.

Well suppose it's time for a shower, then get a bite to eat.

Sorry, I haven't been posting guys. I was on vacation, then swearing in, then moving, and I just started my new job today. What have I missed on here?

Also, how do you make friends with people your own age as an adult? Because I'll probably be at this job for the foreseeable future and I'd like to have friends I can go do stuff with. Granted, I've been here less than a week, but I still have that nagging fear

edit: also, happy super belated birthday, CG!
