Mason city is hard liberal. Probably 3-1 lib.
Hard to believe. I thought I knew all of the dozen or so liberals living in Iowa. One of them is even a farmer! Figure he is the lone liberal farmer in the whole state.

How in the world does Movie Pass stay in business?
$9.95 a month to see as many movies a month as you want but limited to one a day.
Do they think enough people are going to buy this and not use it just like a gym membership?
On average 2 movies a month would mean a 100% loss.
Who is bankrolling this operation? The theater chains must be supplying the money with the hope of increased concession sales which is predominately how they make their money.

I've heard some things about this. They are taking a loss now, but supposedly they are going to use some of the information from people movie watching habits for something else in the future, and that's supposed to be how they make money. Also targeted marketing.
Right now those seats are empty if no one goes to that movie, so it's not really a loss for the theater. They also get concessions sales for most people every movie so that adds up fast.

A cold shower?Guess what I’m getting for Father’s Day?
On a semi related note, our main water heater is leaking water.
Yeah, it would be pretty ambitious for me to get to two movies a year...For it to pay for me I'd need to watch a couple movies a month in the theater and there are not two movies out per month I'd care to watch.
Times have changed over the last 20-30 years. Mason city is hard blue. Conservatives have an uphill struggle when trying to get any traction there. They even elected a homeless guy to city council. (Per my sis and BIL who live there, they are left leaning mods)
