That's wonderful, my wife and I just finalized our adoption of 3 brothers last week. I can say we are truly blessed, from having no kids to 3 boys in less than a year. Do you still foster or are you and your wife done now? I wish your family all the best.

We've decided we're done. We already had three kids ourselves, and we're both in our upper 30s, and with his disabilities he'll need a lot of care. Going from 3 increasingly independent kids to having an infant again at 37 was tough.

We've said that if his birth parents have another one (he's their 10th, and all but the first have gone into the foster system...) we would take him/her to keep them together but otherwise we're done.

Congratulations to you too!

Wow. You and your wife are special people. I'm sure your son agrees.
Congratulations on the addition to your family.

Congrats! Needed a boost like this as I had a friend lose his 5 year old son today to a brain tumor. I was having a rough day at work today but as soon as I found out all the sudden my day seemed pretty insignificant to what he must be going through right now. I won't lie but I hugged my 2 girls hard tonight because I can't imagine what his family is going through tonight. For as much as there is wrong and negative in this world today there is nothing better than the love and innocence of a child that you are their world at that age.

After being foster parents to our little guy from the time he was 7 weeks old in April 2017, today we officially adopted our son Oliver (Ollie)! He's given us some challenges - Down Syndrome, open heart surgery, a special helmet to correct the shape of his skull (temporary, thankfully), physical/occupational/feeding/speech therapies, and soon orthotics to help him learn to walk - but he has been a happy guy through it all. He's got great curly red hair that looks amazing with his Cyclone gear. We'll be bringing him to the SDSU game in a couple months and can't wait to get photos of him with Cy in JTS.

That's awesome! There's a special place in my heart for Downs kids!
