Goedert and Wenieke to name a couple. Both in NFL. Replaced with quality players and more speed from what I’ve read.
As in.....the WR got replaced by more speed, or both?

If you mean better speed at the TE spot that seems hard to believe, haha.

Not doubting that they are replaced with quality players though.

More speed at the WR position. Have a feeling this will be closer game than people think. That’s coming from a South Dakotan though.

Most are expecting a tough game.

SDSU appears to be a well coached, hard nosed team.

Make no mistake though, they'll probably be outmanned at about every position.

NDSU fan first, Cyclones fan second (so 2014 opener was both good and bad). Bison see SDSU every year and often in the playoffs as well....they are a good team year in and year out, but this team won't be near the level of that 2014 NDSU team. Also helping: this ISU team is light years ahead of the 2014 Cyclone team at essentially every position group.

QB Christian is legit dual threat, causes big problems when he gets out of the pocket. The WR and TE they lost were relied on heavily, so it'll be interesting to see how Christian does without having them. They also lost their top RB, two good OL, and their best DL. Also had a young DE go the JUCO route. Their LB's are damn solid, Rozeboom will be all over the field, and their secondary is good.

Lots of inexperience on the OL, and their DL hasn't been good in years. That is where I see ISU overwhelming them. Cyclone DL should just be too good, and our OL should dominate: If we don't get push in the run game against the bunnies, it may be a long year.

I feel better about that than I had in the past, as one of the real positives to last year was the ability to collapse the pocket while maintaining their lane responsibilities.

First games often deviate from what’s on paper and what would occur mid-year. The Jackrabbits likely will have circled this one, too.

Hopefully it’s similar to the UNI game last year. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if our OL takes over.

SDSU typically doesn't have the same athletes that UNI does but they are very, very solid and physical. Typically a bit more disciplined as well. Stiglemeyer certainly doesn't have the same personality and fire the Farley has.

Iowa State wins the coaching battle easily. Stig is just not a good in game coach and really struggles with making adjustments in game. UNI pounded on them pretty good in the first meeting last year by simply running it right at them and then throwing over the top. SDSU just never adjusted.

I'm also not in love with Taryn Christion. Nice player but isn't a guy that's going to beat you or press you by himself. Life is a lot easier when you've got an NFL TE and WR at your disposal in FCS football.

Iowa State wins by more than they did against UNI last year. ISU 41-13.

Good speed with the DBacks...my son went to school at Papio South with Josh Manchigiah (listed in the two-deeps), where he dropped some nice 100 times in track. Was recruited at RB and changed to safety. Still, our receivers are going to severely test their backs and our TE's should run wild.

SDSU is ranked 3rd in the preseason FCS polls behind NDSU and James Madison. If you’re really interested in getting up to date stuff on them, Matt Zimmer from the Argus Leader is the guy on Twitter to go to. It kind of sucks that I’m an SDSU alum and a Cyclone fan. I’ll have to wear my yellow and blue on game day.

It looks like they've beaten UNI 4 out of the last 6 games (5 years including playoffs) and they beat NDSU last year.
