That’s definitely not a fact. Iowa’s DL has a significant advantage over Iowa State’s OL, and the ISU receivers/Iowa secondary match-up is probably a draw. The big question mark is Iowa’s LBers. If Iowa State can keep them off balance and get Montgomery to the edge/in 1v1 match-ups with them, Iowa State will have a good chance. If Iowa can keep Montgomery under 150 total yards, they win going away.

There is no doubt in my mind that ISU receivers are better than UI secondary. Even in the Big 12, where most defenses are built to contain passing offenses, only a couple will match up even with our receivers. The key is how the OL line protects and gives time for pass plays. If Kempt has time, UI will not be happy. UI LB on ISU WR or TE definitely favor ISU as well. I re-watched the film of Montgomery running over Jewell last year so unless the new LB's are somehow better than last years multi-year starters, that is in ISU offense favor as well.

One thing Iowa has always done extremely well is not given up the big plays. You’ve got to dink and dunk your way down the field on them. And to do that, you need a smart and patient quarterback, and with Kempt we’ve finally got that for the first time since what, Arnaud? Maybe Barnett for a brief two game moment in time? That’s not an insult to our prior quarterbacks. I loved Park, and Steele and even Sam B, but that just wasn’t their game. If the Oline can give him time, and that’s a HUGE if, I feel like Kempt will be able to dissect their defense.

Sorry but don’t feel great about this game.. iowa shook off rust..especially Stanley and middle of their D.. We have zero reps really. If we can keep game close at half then have a chance but I’m not liking the feel this week..even though I don’t think Iowa is as good as last years team..NIU QB was horrid...

Give your balls a tug. Were crushing them this Saturday

The black mold growing under their turf made them hallucinate into thinking they were playing touch football.

Pollard used his Deep State contacts in the Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory to gain access to the government's super secret weather control program to get a severe thunderstorm to stall just south of the MidAmerican Field at Jack Trice Stadium as a cover story to allow ISU to cancel the game so ISU could rest their players, avoid injuries, allow suspended players to serve out their suspensions and make them eligible to play, deny the TOE a weeks worth of game film while getting a weeks worth of film on the TOE, giving ISU an extra unscheduled bye week where ISU secretly spent the SDSU game week preparing for the TOE instead of SDSU.

You know it is true because the stadium and tailgating lots only experienced light and intermittent rain and were not hit with any heavy rains like the Huskers had to endure.

Not exactly sure.
In past isu wins, the isu super-bowl excuse was on the mark. Under Campbell though there is a difference and it would be silly for iowa fans to deny it. If a debacle happens this year, iowa fans will have to concede that isu has the better team. In fact, if you had won last year, same deal.

You are way off. Fry came up with this, when actually he had it as iowa's super bowl. He had little plaques that said beat state on each coachs' desk year round. They put extra time into the game and drove it home to the players. He then used simple psychology on the weak minded hawk fans and said it was ISUs super bowl. Remember when he retired, he said that he needed to step down when he could no longer beat us. He was the main reason that the hawks are very sad individuals when it comes to this rivalry.

Remember, last year the ISU offense had explosive plays, DM ran the ball effectively and we were up 10 before ISU got physically worn out and couldn't hold on down the stretch, much like other games over the past couple years.

ISU o-line pass blocking is just fine. It's the run game we all worry about. However, I would think ISU has a pretty good game plan on how to neutralize the IA d-line with Kempt making quick, smart decisions. Also have enough play makers in backfield and WR to hold a big advantage over IA LB and secondary.

If anyone watched last week, IA didn't improve over the course of the game, the NIU QB regressed. IA did nothing other than a 40 yard run off broken tackles and having the NIU QB run around like a chicken with his head cut off, rather than making reads or throwing it away. This is something Kempt won't do.

Even without our first game, ISU wins this one, probably by 7-10. Nothing from Iowa's side should give people cause for concern.

Iowa fans will never concede we have "the better" anything. This is the fan base that thinks they're in the National Championship talk every year. This is what happens when you walk into a tavern at 9:00 am everyday and talk about how great the Hawkeyes are.

Had we had our first game I would have been somewhat confident we would win. But of course they will bring their A+ game like they always do against us, plus we will have rust not have played a game yet. I’m pretty confident we lose, but we are still better than Iowa.

Let’s not start making excuses already.

It will be the suspension thing if ISU wins.

Sounds like CMC is going to play or start JGJ, which I don't think is going to be a game changer but it's still a thing.

For the record I disagree with them not missing at least a half at least to CYA from a PR angle and to show follow though. It's a bad look for CMC no matter what the protocol is or what the suspensions were for.

Good news is Hawk fans will having something besides 'Iowa doesn't play hard for this game' mantra so at least they have options. Hopefully they brought the right cleats too.

What do you disagree with?

*(also- funny how you left the other thread once I posted pics of my seats at the UM-ND game. Am I still delusional for claiming I went to the game?)

So instead if hanging out with your usual arrogant fan base you willingly split two others. Niiice.

At least you got to see Harbaugh before he moves on to another 4 year stint.

Simply untrue. Right now, ISU unquestionably has the better RB, LB, and WR groupings. Probably defensive backfield as a whole (Iowa safeties are better but ISU cornerbacks are better. This might not be true by the end of the year). Iowa is unquestionably better at tight end, probably better, certainly deeper at DL. I think better OL but debatable. We could argue for a week about QB
