Is Purdy the guy?

I think the big difference between Brock and the other fizzle-outs folks have mentioned (Barnett, Jantz, Tiller specifically) is the Purdy is a talented QB who happens to be mobile. The other guys were, in my eyes, superb athletes who happened to have a strong arm.

I thought Purdy made good decisions, first and foremost, but his throws were precise. The long bombs to Milton and Akers were sights to behold; Noland tended to overthrow those passes. Purdy put those passes in the right spot.

I get your point, but Barnett was the exact opposite of both being a superb athlete and having a strong arm.

Yes all day.

He is going to do wonders for David Montgomery as well. D Ends could crash down on the Zone read before with Kempt and Noland, now they have to respect the keeper

If Purdy struggles in a game, we will still have Zeb to come in if needed. But when Zeb comes in again if Purdy struggles, Zeb will be able to keep it on zone read because he is not the only healthy experienced QB on the roster as he was before today. Now he will be able to risk getting hurt.

Yeah, sorry, bad example. He was more a benefit of “what have you done for me lately. I think the problem was that Jantz had SO MUCH upside that he could never reach again. Made Barnett’s consistency, albeit it consistently “meh,” kind of nice sometimes.

Hopefully having Montgomery back will help decrease the # of hits he takes. Those hits will feel a lot different in November. Especially since him being from Arizona, I doubt he’s ever felt cold weather football. Makes me cringe thinking of taking those hits.

He's young, but has some unbelievable talent. We've seen this before, but hopefully this was just a fluke.
With as good as our defense is, I think it allows for a young qb to make a few mistakes and it won't cost the game.
Another big test next week, go State!

Sorry but I can almost guarantee you that Kempt moves ahead of Noland after the bye week (If he is healthy). The announcers basically said the same thing. It's now a 2-man competition between Kempt and Purdy.

Noland is probably one of the best 3rd stringers in the country, but Kempt and Purdy have the intangibles that you don't see very often. Both are poised and make great decisions out there. I love Purdy's feet, but Kempt has the experience factor.
