Lovie Smith at 5 mil? What the heck is that? The state of Illinois could not even afford to fill up their state patrol cars not too long ago. There has to be a lot of bitchin' in Illinois about that crappy hire. He has to have the worse pay to wins ratio in the NCAA.

Big 12 has to have the highest salary average especially with Les coming in. I want to see Campbell at 4.

I think with the new contract for the FB coach at Purdue, Capt Kirk comes in at #4 salary in the B1G West. (Don't know what Northwestern really pays as they are private). What a travesty! Someone needs to get Barta to step up to the plate again. I'm guessing Kirk's agent is already on it.

does Brian kelly really make that little?
Jimbo has a 68million dollar buyout?

Is CMC being paid fairly?
Is he being paid fairly takes several things into account. He has a job at ISU for the next 30 years if he wants it during which time he would get several pay raised and be one of the richest people in Iowa. High profile jobs pay more but they also come with no job security.

The top 10 salaries on the list only 3 schools haven't fired a coach with the last 4 years. Clemson, Alabama.

Michigan
aTm
Auburn
Georgia
Florida
Texas
Nebraska

Track were the coaches who were recently fired from those schools are at now. Most of them would love to be at Iowa State but it isn't an option.

Wow. You will be one of the first ones to complain when he leaves too.

50K raise, what a joke. It’s like the understanding of how coaches salaries work is non existent with some of you.

3,500.000 IS PLENTY is Ames, Iowa IF CMC want's to make more than that he shouldn't of used ISU a a stepping stone to do so. Sure, I am thrilled at their success, but he came here for the fans and the atmosphere. He is being well paid for his wins and losses thus far. Win the Big 12 outright, go undefeated or lose a couple and perhaps a raise is warranted, but STOP throwing money at people. Whats the purpose of a contract if you are going to prostitiue it every-year. IF a Coach has a bad year do they take away money? Really? Let us see how loyal his initial feelings really are.

You don’t pay based on cost of living in a city you pay on the field of employment. Football makes a lot of money you pay competitive compared to his counterparts.

Oh nice first post lol

Pretty sure that is not an Iowa State fan. That was pathetic.

If cost of living has any bearing what so ever it is only on about the first $100K of the contract. The rest of it is either invested or on purchases where the costs probably don't matter much where you live (luxury car, boat, etc.). Cost of living matters on a home purchase but that is a one time deal and most or all of the investment comes back when the coach leaves and sells the house.

Pollard has already been working the phones and shaking hands of big donors to get another million for Campbell and a bunch for his assistants.

Agents get 1/3? That cant be right? Is it? That seems outrageous.
It isn't. Tax firm I used to work for did a few professional athlete returns and none of the agent cuts were that high.

The players unions however...they take a niiiice chunk.

But doesn't the union put together some sort of retirement for the players out of that as well?
