It is just plain stupid to make these kids have to play college ball for 1 year..

Nobody is making these kids play CBB for a year. These kids can now play G League or overseas for one season and collect unlimited endorsements, including from Nike and adidas.

What needs to change ASAP is that once enrolled in college, a kid is ineligible to play in the NBA for at least 2 or 3 seasons (probably 2 works best). The NBA would still prohibit drafting HS kids and one and dones would play GLeague or overseas. Win-Win solution for all parties.

My question is why does Adidas get off scott free? Maybe the Govt should step in and hold Adidas accountable. Seems like that would go a long way to stopping this BS.

if kids are to be culpable for the actions of their handlers (parents, guardians, coaches) how is the university/coaches/athletic dept. not culpable for the actions of booster and/or sponsors (Adidas)?

The best part is that under oath the Addidas guy admitted to offering a guy $200K to go to Kansas and Self still whiffed on him and he went to Arizona. LoL

That just means he got a better offer to go to Arizona. If you think Ayton went to Zona for free or that Zion went to Duke for free after whay he asked for from Kansas then you're fooling yourself.

All this case proves to me is that Kansas needs to switch to Nike.

Its a great illegal quid pro quo, the player or his family gets cash, provided by adidas to play for Kansas or Louisville. The schools gets some of the best BB talent in country to play for them. And when the players leaves school, he signs a nice shoe contract with adidas to wear their athletic gear in the NBA. Everyone gets something, Kansas has deniability, that they knew anything about the payments, and adidas gets onto the next big bb player. If one player out of 10 becomes the next Jordan or LeBron, then they easy make up for the money spent on the other players that don't.

At this point, we all know Adidas is paying kids or their families, if a school continues their relationship with that company, they are admitting they are ok with it. That's against NCAA rules, any school still with them, should be punished. If you really feel bad for the kid, cut ties with the people who ruined his college basketball career. If you don't do that, you are admitting its really just about getting him eligible, it has nothing to do with his well being.

They tried it and the NBA rightfully so wanted kids to play elsewhere for a season before becoming draft eligible. And why would the NBA PA and GMs wants kids who aren’t ready to play eat up salary cap space? Good business decision by the NBA.

Stop, thats silly. We all know Nike is paying kids too. They just have 100x more money and experience doing it so their system is a lot more refined. So keeping a relationship with them means the same thing.

No, they don't. Kansas switched to Adidas because Adidas pays more tham Nike and included more sports in their package of uniforms they covered.

Unfortunately, Nike is now in a position where they could lowball Kansas knowing how bad we want to leave Adidas. A sucky business all around.
