At the ISU presser CSP said that every time we started a run at TCU ...Jamie Dixon called a timeout....then milked the clock for all it was worth.....I noticed the same thing....Prohm and me must both be great coaches...or at least one of us is and I've never coached a b-ball game in my life.......

Oh absolutely he does, but after a performance like today there has to be some blame placed on him

He'd be the first guy to tell you that. I don't suppose anyone in the locker room is pleased about this one, and there's plenty of responsibility to go around. Sometimes teams walk out and just don't have it. That was our day today.

Agree totally. Just let them dribble for 15-20 seconds at top of key and run the clock out. When they came out and doubled them up it started speeding TCU up. (Way too late though, should've done it a lot sooner)

It took a 27-4 run for Steve to call a timeout...

No, the sky isn’t falling, Iowa state lost a game at home to a TCU team that was ready to play and Iowa state waltzed in and figured they would get the win after they went up 13-4 or whatever it was early on. This team has looked good after their losses and seem to learn from their mistakes. To take a word from that football coaching guy “trust the process.” The last time we all left Hilton frustrated the next game they went on the road and beat Texas tech. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do that again next Saturday.

True, but that was the first half and they got it back down to 4, at home coaches will let runs happen, (not so much on the road) at least in the first half so their guys work through it.

Even down 7 at the half, they were not in a bad spot.

The problem was the same team that gave up all those points in the 1st half, showed up again in the 2nd. I just saw some of the things from Prohm's first year show up again in terms of defense, the rotation was poor, step slow, it was not good.

Also, this is one of those games where it’d have been nice to have Solo. With the way they were abusing us down low I would have liked to have him down there to shove some dudes around

To me, I think a portion of it was psychological. You play a tougher first half schedule, and all of a sudden everyone is looking at your remaining schedule, and picking you as the favorite. First, that puts a target on your back. Other teams get up for you. Second, I think you lose a bit of your hunter mentality. I think it's easy to get up for games against teams that are at the "top". We have to find a way to get up (and focused) for everyone, wherever a game is played.

I’m worried about how other coaches will attack us the rest of the way. We were terrible in transition and in ball screen situations. THT and Lindell really struggle on ball as well.
These things have been attacked but not to the extent Dixon went after them today. Look for other coaches to attempt to follow this blue print. Credit to Dixon for taking this approach.
In general our ball screen defense has been a mess for a long time. We need to switch more or take a more aggressive approach. I would like to see how many points per possession we give up in those spots.

This game felt like whatever we did was wrong. If we had a shot we would pass it up instead of shooting, or we would shoot when we should have passed. There were plays to be made but the decision at that point of making a play always seemed like the wrong one.

I think it eventually wore on the team mentally and they lost all confidence. At that point they didn't believe they could win. They put in the effort but in their hearts they knew they would lose. That's what is most disheartening about this loss. For this team to make the run in the tourney they got to be mentally tougher when things aren't going their way.

Tucker and Wiggington have the ability to make this team unstoppable but at the same time can sink this team in minutes with horrible shot selection, inconsistency, poor defense and terrible decisions.
Pretty fortunate this hasn’t happened more often tbh.
Wiggy and THT are a lot alike in that both have a wide range of play...and on days when both of them struggle, this team struggles as well.

TCU looked awfully familiar today. Score 90 points in Hilton, give up 80 points, 5-5 in conference.

Look! Jacobson just let another guy drive the lane without sliding over, again!

Good offense today, Jacobson. Horrible help defense. Having Lard in there cut off their drives, but then they made their 3's, and had backdoor help. Conditt took that away against KSU, but then they took him out at the end. Didn't see him today, and still shaking my head on that.
