Yes, fans for sure know more than thd coaches who witness things in practice. Fire prohm. We can do so much better.

Did I mention anything about my preference for what I'd like to see us do? I simply pointed out the fact that there are hundreds of posts on here about that very topic and it's well known we haven't used both of them at the same time at all this year, so I'm not sure what games the Kansas poster is watching where he's seen that mythical lineup

He had the perfect opportunity this year. Kansas is down and ISU had more talent than anybody else in the league. Instead of capitalizing, his team just completely implodes with inexcusable home losses and uninspired efforts against sub 500 teams. If he cant do it this year, I don't see how he is ever going to. I don't think he is building anything here. Just stuck on mediocrity.

This.

In a lot of ways, Steve Prohm is the basketball version of Kirk Ferentz. Really nice guy. Wins a lot more than he loses. Gets some big wins followed by some head-scratching losses. Appears to be stubborn and unwilling to change up game plans. And is often perceived as an underachiever based on the talent he has, which makes him a lightning rod for fans.

He's not wrong. Failing to win the league is fine, but to fall out of the race the way we have is inexcusable. Two weeks ago we were a game back with the easiest remaining schedule. The computers had us as the favorites. Plenty of analysts were describing us as the most talented team in the league. We have one of the best home courts in the country. This wasn't just the opinion of kool aid chugging Clone fans, this was a lot of experts and media around the country.

To come up a game or two short losing to KSU or TT would have been just fine. Having KSU or KU get hot and win out to beat us would be fine. But getting swept by a struggling TCU and beat by a short handed BU, two of those at home, is inexcusable.

This looks on paper like our best window for several years, and we aren't even going to be a factor. We will lose Marial, Babb, Talley, and likely Wigs next year and I am not that impressed with next years recruiting class.

We look like program that can make a tourney more often then not, but I agree that I don't see any signs that we are building to anything bigger than that. Some fans may be content with that, but I think the ceiling is higher at ISU. Just look at what is happening across the parking lot with football.

This team should be winning the conference by two or three games all things considered. They are not. That is all I have to say.

I think Ferentz does a hell of a job getting the most out of his teams myself. I never look at Iowa and am blown away by their talent but he usually wins 8-9 games because they are good up front. Still think Dr. Tom might be a better comparison. Elite 8 his first year and pretty much one and done after that.

Fire Prohm.

Easily the worst part of today is I googled 'Riggs Crazy Gif' and the new dude who plays Riggs on the LW series shows up.

Like I really needed that.

What is one thing this team has done consistently well the entire season that makes you say that?

To steal your own question, it’s about consistency.

This team has demonstrated it can handle (easily!!) any other team in the conference. Do you or anybody else disagree with that statement?

I get a little annoyed with people saying that we have the best talent in the league, then proceeding to use that as a negative for Prohm. First thing, if you looking at recruiting rankings, we have far from the best talent in the league. Kansas is playing guys who they were planning on redshirting, and those guys were still ranked higher recruiting-wise than nearly everyone on our team.

Then you can proceed to talk about how recruiting rankings don't mean everything. Well, they mean something, and someone outperforming their ranking either means that they've developed well or that they were identified as diamonds in the rough. Either of those reasons is due to Prohm and/or his assistants. Not to mention that our "talent" is focused in the freshman and sophomore classes and reaching their potential before most people would have expected.

Saying that our team is the most talented in the league is probably more of a compliment to Prohm than it is an insult.

Consistently, no.

And a big part of winning a conference by 2-3 games would require being consistent to begin with in at least some aspect of the game.

There's spurts of different aspects going well but it's been a mess at times too. The only consistency this week has been to get behind, come back, get ahead for a bit, and then let the opponent dictate what happens at the end. What the cause of that is, is the question.

I dunno, maybe never? I don’t think we have the second best roster in the big 12 this year either, so the streak continues.
I don't know. Kansas is currently being thumped at Tech. This might be the purple cats year

Hold on... Which seasons were we ever worse than a 7/8 seed with the 2nd best roster in the Big 12?

Who's responsible for the 2nd best roster in the Big 12? (If you do believe it's the second best roster in the Big 12)

Two teams with a better roster are playing right now in Lubbuck.

I'm going to be so pissed if Tech screws this up.

Too much finesse and not enough toughness. When you are battling in conference games you just cannot play that soft and expect to win.

I know what you mean. I'm watching TT take it to a soft team tonight as they are laying it on 'em 45-20 at half. Woof.

It's also a lack of fundamentals. Other teams are feasting on offensive rebounds because we don't know how to box out. That's basic stuff that the coaching staff needs to address. Work on that and we are at least +3 in the win column.
I don't think so. More like "aren't willing to box out." Just like several players just "aren't willing" to work hard defending. THT being the captain of that group.
This is Prohm's fault?

TT lost 6 of their top 8 scorers from last season. They were picked 7th preseason.

I don't think they have a better roster but they definitely play better D and better as a team. They won't blow this game because they don't rely on hot shooting.
