Where would you rank Prohm far as big 12 coaches go.

He's fine. This league has so many good coaches, it's really hard to rank them.

Exactly. In any given year, they could rearrange based on the composition and chemistry of each team, and a little luck either way.

Coach Prohm is a very good coach. Need to remember that we finished dead last last year. Yes, he has assembled a lot of talent that is probably underachieving on paper, but we're basically playing 3 freshmen, 3 guys who played last year, and two transfers.

I love the outcry about my rankings and how much I hate Prohm, when the consensus seems to be that he ranks somewhere between 7-9.

Doesn’t our program deserve better than that? We aren’t TOE. Good enough is BS. Relative to his profession, Prohmnis a great coach. Relative to this conference, who he coaches against for 18 games annually, he is bottom tier.

I’m tired of it. I’m tired of his stupid tongue. I’m tired of him shedding his coat and tie and acting like he’s doing something, when I’m fact he’s just watching. His philosophy of letting the players figure it out doesn’t work. At least not in college. We need acoach who leads.

Those 3 freshman (actually 2), 2 transfers, and 3 returning players have had nearly an entire season together. If there really was some extended adjustment to one another, then they should be getting better right now. Not falling apart.

You just went full jere. Never go full jere.

This is really dumb.

I can't put him in the top half. It just looks too often like the team is not prepared. Way too many times we can't even get the ball inbounded after a timeout.

Self, Beard, Kruger, Huggins, Weber, Dixon have all owned Prohm.

Prohm has not shown that he is capable of winning on the big stage yet

I tend to agree with your comments a lot. Agree with your first paragraph regarding annual fluctuations.
I have been a pretty big Prohm defender and supporter. But he is definitely trending down in my book. I think some of the criticisms are valid. My particular concern is in game adjustments. It just seems like we have a pre game plan, likely well conceived, but we stick to it whether it works or not. The Texas guy going 8-10 from three, many uncontested is not acceptable. We seemed so concerned about their bigs, we conceded the 3. Their bigs are not that skilled of offensive players. I also think we need at least a semi functional zone defense.
I think we overstate our youth.
Babb, Tally and Shyok are experienced 5th year players. Jacobson is an experienced 4th year player. Wigginton and Lard are experienced 2nd year players. Yes, Haliburton and THT are true freshman.
Too lazy to do the analysis, but I doubt we are younger than anybody else in the league, except maybe KSU.
I think we overstate our talent. We have good players. Are we really the best in the league? I do not think so. Everybody has talent. Based upon this year’s actual conference performances I think only Shayok deserves any all conference recognition.
Back to the original question about Prohm, too tough to rank order, but I would say bottom hslf for sure.

Agreed on youth. Somehow Tech has overcome youth.

I’m surprised anyone feels they can rank where Boynton is, unless you watch a whole lot more Osu bb than I do.

I try to watch parts of every Big 12 game the entire season since they are all on TV right now. I can tell you right now Boynton is getting alot more out of alot less than Prohm.

I watch Boynton and I see a team with horrible talent putting in alot of effort. They should have swept TCU, just took Tech to OT in Lubbock and hung with Kansas all day yesterday, all this despite having the worst talent and depth in recent Big 12 history, I wont even mention all this is happening while having the most pathetic fan support in the conference.

I look at Prohm right now and see the best talent and depth in the Big 12, with the best fan support, refusing to make adjustments, a team that is flat out lethargic and disinterested in playing basketball lately, getting swept by NIT teams and constantly losing home games. We have 2 player that have loads of talent but seem more interested in their upcoming careers with the Iowa Wolves than trying to be a team player.

So yeah, its hard right now for me to put Prohm ahead of Boynton. Things might change depending on how the rest of the season, but as of right now he's hovering around the 9 line in my opinion.

Again, what exactly makes ISU the most talented, deep team?

What sorts of skill sets separates ISU from the rest of the conference?

Hard to rank, but here's my stab at it:

1. Self
2. Huggins
3. Beard
4. Dixon
5. Drew
6. Kruger
7. Weber
8. Prohm
9. Boynton
10. Smart

Some are better than others, but I don't think that there's a bad coach anywhere. I do want to see what Boynton can do if given a couple years - he walked into a tough situation, and seems to get the most out of his guys.

Ended up putting Shaka last because he has the biggest mismatch between talent and results.
