The company I work for is based out of Omaha.

Rumor has it that Fred to Nebraska is done and contract details are already worked out.

Seven years, $28 million.

Then they better get to work on firing their coach ;)

I STILL don't think this is happening and I'm the one that is certain he will be coaching college next year.

But, if it is, the man is not smart. Taking the Bulls job with those two doofuses running the show in Chicago and then willingly moving to the shittest of **** towns. Or maybe no one else will have him and he's heard UCLA is out and he actually tried to get the Ohio State job a few years ago.

I don't have hate for him, but I also don't have this strong liking for him now either. I know he helped to turn around the program, but we also helped him tremendously. We were the only P5 team that would give him a shot at that point. We took a HUGE risk hiring him. If you want to know what it could have looked like, look at wrestling with KJ. You have a guy who never had coached before, never recruited before, was never the "CEO" of a major team before; we rolled the dice hard with him.

To emphasize that no one else was going to hire him, he was pining for the job when Mac was hired and Pollard said he wasn't ready and he was still available when Mac left.

Then he went and stopped recruiting although he left a great team here, but so front loaded that it would be a mess to fix until after a year or two. We helped each other at the beginning, but he also bent us over when he left. That is why I'm more meh about him.

I’ll add that he left at a very bad time of the year when it comes to having to find a new coach and recruiting. Most programs that make changes have new coaches lined up well in advance before June.

I’m glad it worked out that we were able to get Prohm, but if there hadn’t been much interest it could’ve been a mess.

I wonder if he'll be willing to have a real NBA buyout this time and muster the strength to tell recruits he'll be there for their four years? Assuming we'll be going after the same recruits, I hope he's more of the 2014-15 Hoiberg.

Don't shoot the messenger here. I am just passing along info that the Omaha Husker faithful are hearing.

I agree I don't think it will happen either. My money has always been on the Timberwolves.

Why do I feel the people who support Hoiberg are like Trump supporters - no matter what he does it's always the right decision? If he goes to Nebraska he's nothing but a hypocritical liar. I hope he fails. He left. us high and dry.

Left us high and dry with Nadar, Morris, Thomas, Naz, Niang and McKay. He pursued his dream. We have a solid coach who has won 2 conference tournament championships. If you love Prohm and hate Hoiberg you need to acknowledge that without CFH raising ISU’s profile we never get CSP.
CFH will be successful at Nebraska, Kansas, UCLA or anywhere else in the college game. But CSP has accomplished a lot over his last 4 years and if the core of this team remains intact we will continue to be very good over the next few years.

He left a good roster for the next two seasons, which is a long time in college basketball.
But Chizik had a better departure. Fred essentially stopped recruiting in earnest before the 2014-15 season and waited until June to leave- never-mind refusing to even appear to have a large NBA buyout in effort to help with recruiting.

Given we'll likely be going after the same recruits, I hope he still has that wandering eye for the NBA

Left us high and dry? He left us in way better shape than what he was given.

Chizik had a better departure? That's just plain stupid right there.
