But I thought he’d never coach in college again? I though he hated recruiting? I thought he was going to retire super young because of his heart (this was a CW special).
I feel bad for your cats if Fred goes to UNL.

Returning to college if the NBA didn't work out was always an option, particularly for $28 million. Plenty of college coaches hate recruiting.

The only "problem" with this is when he takes recruits we will be after. That will certainly happen but everything else is fine by me. Going to KU would be the worst but we don't play Nebby so all good with me.
Agreed. I'd prefer he be out of the midwest, but it is what it is. I always assumed he'd land a better job than UNL.

a guy that hated recruiting trying to recruit to Lincoln, Nebraska...hmm..

The transfer market is more competitive as well when he was here.

The problem with Nebraska is that their b-ball program is an after thought to the Husker Football Natl Champ ??? Program lol......right now Huskerland will take any coach in any sport that can Trounce Iowa.....

I’d like it if he came back. Because it’d prove that I was right. I take a lot of **** be here for saying that he’ll coach in college again.

And go back to when he left, no one was saying he’d coach in college again. Everyone was talking about dream jobs and how it wasn’t about money. And now you’re saying it is about the money.

Disagree. Miles put together a good roster. If Fred gets a good staff, he'll win there. If Iowa can make the tournament with taverhawks and UNI all-stars, NU can have success.

I think he put together a good roster for them to be good this year but three of the 4 best players were seniors this year.

Fred will always be a Cyclone legend but KILL THIS THREAD!!! Why do we have 11 pages talking about Fred Hoiberg? Worrying about his life decisions and speculating what we think is right and wrong, what could've been and should've been blah blah blah....it's sad.....I don't know weather to laugh or cry, move on people. We just won a Big 12 championship and have a favorable draw in the NCAA's.The tournament is upon us with tons of other things to talk about and celebrate and here a lot of you are........fanatically worrying about the accomplishments and choices of another man.

I suppose I will get aggressive reactionary responses..........
Somebody really should have posted this by now.

No one was saying he'd coach in college again? That is false. The person talking about dream jobs was you. So what exactly were you right about? .

Fred wanted to coach in the NBA. That was clear from his buyout from early on. Him getting fired promptly from the Bulls and that failure forcing him to coach in college again isn't at all surprising. Perhaps NU is surprising, but Iowa State isn't available and in that sense NU and Minnesota are the next best things.

Going to guess here....think he is letting the college rumors force the hand of the Timberwolves. As far as hating recruiting, he absolutely does dislike a ‘major part’ of it. Everyone knows he would hire great recruiting assistants....has to if it’s Nebr

2 things you can always count on. Long Fred threads and longer Hawk threads - often longer than any ISU threads which is perplexing and sad unless your a fan primarily of old things and hated things.

Oh I am sure that part of this talk is his agent getting his name out there.

Hines would know. Hell he was the one who broke the Fred airport lounge catastrophe. Almost double digit sources. ;)
