If he goes to nebby good for him. He obviously didn't want to coach at Iowa state. He left the cupboard bare, didn't like recruiting, and used us a a stepping. I hate to say it but the transfer market is night and day different now.

Because they have won more recently? I don't see it being any better except maybe recruiting.

Well winning more recently and better recruiting is a pretty big deal, right?

What is this Nebraska arena everyone keeps talking about like? Does it have gold plated seats or something?

Fred needed ISU because we were the fastest track to him being a head coach at a high level without having to "pay his dues" from a coaching perspective. ISU needed Fred because we were a dumpster fire. And that's putting it nicely. Worked out well for both parties.

It’s proof positive that ISU was just another job to him.

FU requires malice, and I don’t think he has malice, but it’s obvious ISU doesn’t mean that much to him.

He still comes back and talks to the fans and team and coaches and everything. He wouldn’t do that if it didn’t mean much to him. You don’t have to sacrifice life decisions just to prove the university means something to you. I could have applied for a position with the Alumni association but I didn’t because it pays $50k less than my current job. It doesn’t mean the university doesn’t mean much to me.

Saying this wasn’t more than a job is bitter? I’m pretty pleased with Prohm. And Prohm actually wants to be here.

I’m not bitter, but I don’t see why I’m supposed to celebrate a former coach who left us coaching a nearby program that I absolutely loathe.
Saying he doesn’t care about Iowa State University is a false claim. He wanted to coach in the NBA and went for it. I don’t blame him. I’m sure coaching in the NBA would have been an amazing life experience. Now that Iowa State job isn’t available he’s going to coach somewhere else as opposed to sitting at home.

It's freaking basketball. Nobody is going to A&M for anything they have in their rafters. Players go to play for the coach. Hoiberg could bring in 3-4 transfers and have them winning in one year. Do you really think the players he landed at ISU came here because of our great tradition? **** no! They came to play for Fred.
Lol. This really contradicts all your nonsense on what are the top or better jobs.

A$M is a better job. Fred could win at Nebraska, but he’d have even more success at A&M

Well it’s kinda like Hilton. It seats a lot of people and fans get really loud in it. It’s completely transformed from that previous dump they had. They have a great home court atmosphere now. With success it has potential to be even better

The blue bloods caught up and it's basically back to how it was. Just another type of cycle.

ISU doesn’t mean that much to him. Still donates at the highest level. Still comes to football games. Still came to our basketball games and met with the team. He is a better “fan” in that regard than 85% of the message board posters on here.
It makes him a better fan than 100% of the posters that have the username jcyclonee.

I thought they went to ISU because I am an alumnus.

Does everything thread on this forum have to degenerate into a flame war involving either Fred K. Hoiberg or Donald J. Trump? Can't we get a new figure to argue about?

Fred's people leaked it I'm sure. Why not start the bidding war now. I'd be shocked if he really is ever interested in being Nebraska's head coach...but if other teams thought he may not be available if he WAS actually interested...well, time to pony up before it's too late and he's taken the Nebby job...ooooohhh. :/

Not every thread, just the ones with Hoiberg in the title.
