I Lol’d when the announcer said ‘I wonder what Iowa state is going to do out of this timeout?’ as we threw the ball in coming out of a timeout in the second half.

(A: Nothing. Isu never does anything worthwhile out of a time-out).

We had a shot clock violation coming out of the first half timeout I believe.

They both should have been guarding him at the same time the entire second half. How many rebounds might have started our transition offense.

How often have we played 2 bigs in at the same time this season? Second half of the last game of the season and you think CSP is going to run 2 bigs out there now?

Lard and Wigginton stepped up to the challenge tonight. The starters minus Shayok just choked. Kudos to OSU to playing to our weakness in the paint as Wesson abused us and we had no answer.

Slight disagreement on the last sentence. Had the answer- Cam Lard. For some reason staff didn't notice it, adjust to it, or exploit it. Once Cam came back in during the second half, when he got the ball down low, Wesson couldn't do anything with him. Cam would just shot right over him. Unfortunately, it was only thrown into him it seemed like a less than a handful of times. One time OSU moved to help/double him which freed up someone for an outside shot or a cutter (when not trying a fancy pass). Not to mention the potential for him to pick up fouls on Wesson, as well as, tire him out by making him work on defense, with chance of impacting his offense and FT shooting down the stretch.

Cyclones exploit that, more likely a different outcome.

Sad when motion offense is dead in college ball. Looking more and more like the NBA stand around and watch crap.

We lost 6 of our last 8 regular season games against Baylor, TCU (twice), Texas, WVU and TTU. All of those teams except TTU clearly had less talent than ISU. Same with OSU. This ISU team just had a hard time getting fired up against lesser opponents. But you can't say they didn't have some great moments because clearly they did.

It was great to get back to the tournament for the 7th time in last 8 years. Hopefully today's loss motivates the players who are returning. I will miss Babb and Shayok, but especially Babb. He didn't shoot well today, but he had 6 rebounds, 4 assists and no turnovers.. I hope Babb's poise and control rubs off on Wigginton because he can use some of it. Next year I would start Nixon, Halliburton, Wigginton, THT and Lard. Bring Jacobson off the bench.

At the end of the day, nobody made a shot. Babb once again proved he isn’t a leader. Missed a wide open 3 for the lead not on prohm. Players were terrible.

I don't know, Babb had a bad game. He had great leadership in the B12T.

Other than THT I think you can really look at the coach on this one. We clearly should have been double teaming their only good offensive player, especially since fouling him didn't work at all when he's a 80% free throw shooter. If not double teaming with a guard why not try playing two big guys.

Wigginton from last year, top 25 recruiting class, top 5 transfer in Shayok, another great transfer in Jacobson.

You can't argue we didn't infuse the program with top talent after the missing recruiting year.

They are an over seeded mid major. It showed against GA state and it will be clear Sunday.
Dude they were up by 30 in the second half. By your definition every team in the tournament is overrated and overseeded. Duke was in a dog fight at the half. Virginia trailed at half. Tennessee was only up by a couple of scores late in the game against mighty freaking Colgate.

He should have. Better to have done it when Baylor and TCU were punking us 4-0 as less talented teams who outrebounded us but better late than never.

You just went full hawkeye.

Never go full hawkeye.

Agreed. If Iowa gets to the sweet sixteen, this might be an argument.

With that being said, Iowa looks loaded next year. Only losing Baer, Cook will be back once the NBA scouts laugh at him. They get a couple nice recruits coming in. It could be a watershed year for the hocks.
