Link or it didn't happen.

He said a variation of the same thing to two different questions but this is what I used in this story.

“Playing close to home is something special, but it’s not going to be the reason why I choose a school over another,” Grill said. “(The deciding factors will be) just how I fit in with the team, how much I’m going to get to play pretty soon and just the relationships with the coaches. That’s probably the top three.”

The doom and gloom attitude from some posters on this board gets pretty old. Does Prohm have an uphill climb? Yeah, of course. But there's no reason to write it off and think the sky is currently falling before the chips even fall. Lot of minutes are leaving, to not think that isn't an incentive Prohm is laying out there for recruits is crazy. Let the man do his job before you burn him at the stakes.

Shameless plug for a story you wrote? Do not want.

You're the best Stanz! Now go get that tattoo!

Huh, color me shocked. You mean, things to build on a visit? Say it ain't so! Like I said, some people like to count their chickens before they hatch. He's got visits lined up. What more do you expect? A commitment before they visit?

Stanz my post isn't directed at you, I assume you can pick that up.

Yeah Iowa has had a ton visits also. They got none. So if you like visits where we get runner up. Then that's great. However, Frenchy sounds like we are not in the lead. Grill is down to UNLV (Who we lose to every time regardless of the sketchy crap they do) Kansas State and Iowa State. We know Kansas State is closer to home and he has said he wants to be closer to home.
The new top 100 kid we just started recruiting and his former assistant just happens to live in the same state as him and is an assistant at Georgia. Which in my mind puts us behind them unless he just kind of dislikes Georgia.
The Johnson kid who is a transfer has worse numbers than Beverly. So Is the sky falling? No. Are things looking good? Not in my mind.

Grill specifically said that the fact Kansas State is in Kansas will not be a deciding factor. And Ames isn't really that far away. If he just wanted to play close to home he wouldn't have committed to SDSU or be considering UNLV.

Yet, I am guessing if he likes both Universities and K State is closer. Might as well go with that. WE shall see.

Really? You think he is just going to choose KSU because it is closer to his home than ISU? Come on.

No need to be all doom and gloom before kids have even visited and made decisions.

It is insane. We have 3 open spots, 4 confirmed visits, including some highly sought after guys. What exactly am I missing?

Thanks, CW. Just like everyone else, I'm hopeful that we get a few more good players for this upcoming season. But, there are so many moving parts that who knows.

It is worth remembering that it's possible that incoming freshmen contribute and that current players actually improve from one year to the next. Some of us seem to think that this is inconceivable. I'm not suggesting this is all we should bank on, but no need for doomsday talk if we don't get a couple guys we really wanted this spring. If we struggle next year, we'll deal with it then, but why assume the worst?

I get being patient. I'm OK with letting things play out and seeing how the roster looks in late May. Like you said, there's so many moving parts that it's impossible to know who's going to end up where.

But if Prohm can't land an impact grad transfer then we'll be pinning an awful lot of hope solely on returners making huge developmental leaps and unproven freshmen being Big 12-ready. How competitive the 19-20 team can be will depend heavily on what happens in the next few weeks.

This is the role I associate with this guy, I have no idea what his name in but know he's like actually starred in other movies.

Rob Schneider. I always think of him as delivery guy in Big Daddy.

Some people just aren't happy unless the sky is falling.

I wish they'd stick to religion and politics and leave college sports alone.
More like some read partly sunny/cloudy posts, and then meltdown thinking they’ve read a prognostication of a Class 5 hurricane. Like religion or politics, the herd wants to be outraged and offended.
