Raise your hand the last time you picked up any magazine and isu football was mentioned in the same sentence as championship...

I’m all for expectations.. better to have expectations than not.

There’s no reason this team, if healthy, can’t be in the 8-9 win+ conversation..
Did Sports Illustrated or any other weekly sports magazine have a story in 2011 about Iowa State being one of the last hurdles in the way of OSU and a berth in the Championship Game?

That's all I got...

I actually didn't know about it being spelled lede, but since the etymology of lede is an alternate spelling of lead, and it is essentially used as journalism jargon, I officially don't care and don't feel the least bit bad about it.
Why? Well...

"Spelling the word as lede helped copyeditors, typesetters, and others in the business distinguish it from its homograph lead (pronounced \led\ ), which also happened to refer to the thin strip of metal separating lines of type (as in a Linotype machine)." - Merriam Webster

I remember my mom running a Linotype machine at a (very) small town weekly newspaper. That thing was so cool, but I don't know how they ever put out a big daily newspaper with those things.

You do realize Jay played fball at ISU right...

I’d say of all the isu writers/analysts he is by far the most knowledgeable and realistic..

My wife played college soccer and on a scale of 1-10 her knowledge of the game outside of the narrow world of MAC conference women’s soccer is a .5.

So your wife played college soccer and she doesnt understand more about the strategies and intricacies of the game than your average fan?

For arguments sake, Steve Prohm never played college basketball anywhere. He seems to be pretty knowledgeable

JaMarcus Russell played at the highest level.

Who would make the better coach

Correct. She just played and was fast and got a scholarship. No real interest in the game other than her own game and her teams games. “Pass the ball in front of me, I run fast and dribble around the goalie and score.”

I should disclose this was late 90’s/early 2000’s. Women’s soccer has grown a lot since that time. Literally if you were fast you could get a good scholarship in those days.
