did you watch the same game i was? atleast 15 of those passes that were completed were thrown no more than 5-7 yds and turned up field .....

so are you telling me that you just let a team continue to throw underneath like that? I'll agree with you, the majority of those plays were short yardage passes, but seriously, 88%?

That doesn't matter. You can criticize their short passes if it doesn't work. That guy threw for almost 300 yards on us.

i'm just pointing out the fact that he wasn't challenged and that it was very simple for him to just hike and dump ..... all night ... esp. with that dumb bubble screen that we couldn't seem to ever figure out  ....

you may be right, but I refuse to agree with you, only because I hate to think that the reason we played this terrible is due to ONE player quitting the team.
wether we like it or not that ONE player was a very big personality in the locker room and great friends with a lot of the players.

it cant all be pinned on that i agree... im just saying it had some effect

There is not one postive in this loss. Not one that was pathetic. This programs doesnt look any better than it did with Chizik took over. How do you get killed by Baylor?? How.

I hate losing as much as anyone else, but this was somehow so much worse. I've been told by my wife that I shouldn't be on here, its bad enough already... But I don't remember I felt this physically ill after a loss.

I am pretty sure that losing to Baylor by any score is bad, but getting your jock handed to you by 28 points is ROCK BOTTOM.

That said, I hate their very talented QB...
I dunno they seemed to have shrugged it off for the time being... Standing out there with those guys you cant hardly tell we lost. in fact I saw more life out of some of them than I did when they got off the bus or went in for/ came back from half time

I think we're both on the same page. I agree with you. It more than likely played some roll in this, but aside from that, we also plain sucked tonight.

I cannot believe the number of posters who think we lost by 28 points, gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown, committed several dozen false starts, and let the Baylor QB complete something like 99.9% of his passes all because one player -- who didn't even play in the last game -- quit the team.

Luckily Gene doesn't make or accept excuses, especially lame ones like that.

But seriously, what is wrong with our football team and program? The more things change it seems the more they stay the same here. We can't finish games, we can't beat any ranked teams, and we can't win on the road. These things have all been hallmarks of ISU football for years and years now with different coaching staffs as well.

Nothing personal but Minneapolis & Ames are not even close. It's got to be easier to draw kids there.

I for one, was very impressed with the Baylor QB. He had great speed, but really threw the ball very well, even on the run. The Clones just got out-athleted by Baylor!! We just don't have the guys on defense to keep up with the southern schools, even the bad ones.

The thing that disturbes me is that even at halftime Ben Bruns said we couldn't stop them the way we lined up on defense. He said the same thing after the game, adding "I could have called this game for Baylor". Obviously he thought we were outcoached, hopefully the players don't think the same thing.

On a seperate note, we have been trying to build a power team for as long as I can remember. Like we are going to be a team that can run up the middle at will, then take shots downfield. There are almost no teams that play that way anymore. I don't get to see the games, just listen online. But there seems to be zero creativity. For us to succeed, I think we need to be more in the mold of Boise State, Cincy, etc. Hell, Florida and USC have 50 players each better than our best athletes, and they run fast paced wide open offenses. We need some players that can make people miss, get off the line of scrimmage, etc. More guys like JJ Moses. We get so few yards we shouldn't get. It always sounds like if the line opens a hole for a 2 yard gain, we get 2. Nobody ever seems to make anything happen. Sorry for the rant, just the thoughts of an 30 year fan who is tired.

I'm Tierd

Of our D holding the O to 3rd and long then giving up a 1st down
Of our D holding the O to 4th and long then giving up a TD
Of having no running game
Of the opposing QB buying time, running around, missing defenders, finding the open man, completing the pass for a big gain
Of a D that cannot tackle
Of stupid penelties
Of Dropped passes
Of losing to Baylor
Of the team not showing any signs of urgancy
Of coaches getting out coached
Of programs in the same stage of building winning
Of players leaving
Of players celabrating a big hit after they gave up 20 yards
Of an athletic program with their hand always out for cash, wanting more and not doing their job on the field
Of coaches wanting fans to come out and support them, when they dont give us much to cheer for
Of players wanting us to stand up and cheer them on then giving up a big play
Of people saying the team is headed in the right direction, when the direction they are headed is down

This isnt a Baylor loss meltdown, this is 2 and a half years in the making meltdown. Coaches change yet the results and preformance is still the same. What gives
