Last time TOE came to town, the Cyclones wore the gray uniforms, so black would be along the same lines.
Yeah the gray is different than black though. The gray also had some cardinal and gold in it as well. Trust me, I think the all black with a chrome would look awesome. Louisville has a similar uniform combination and it's super cool. I just think it would be a small thing that Iowa fans would bring up day in and day out because everyone knows they invented the color black and no one can use that color ever.

The difference in Louisville is their jerseys have some red, though.

Alright, were going back to this...

Thank God No! Don't tempt fate. We didn't have that upside down +urd at all last year which is just fine with me. ;)

ZB4CY does a service to the community by calling us to remember the near miss we had from that single week reveal+removal of the upside down poop emoji/bugle fail.
+1

Like a wise Stoic, he reminds us to always temper our justified critique and desire for improvement, with gratitude for the bad that could have been, and has thus far been avoided:
Kudos! Like the quote!

With that in mind, yes - we need some simple unifying stripes on pants at least, or matching socks as a substitute if not. Maybe the MBB "Orr" stripes would be too much across a pile of FB players, but something simple on the helmet and pants (no New Orleans Saints yoga pants!) can still look "clean".
Maybe. But am I one of the few who actually like the ultra clean look of the no stripe pants? They have grown on me.

Newsflash for you. White is neutral. They don’t have to be tied together. Do you know nothing about fashion whatsoever?
Haha, I know I don't!

It'd benefit from a tie-in color on the pants in some way. Alternative is to have a helmet and jersey with white accents, but that probably isn't worth it as long as C-C-W happens only once per season. Plain-white pants work fine with W-C-W, all-white and C-W-W, and WWW is bound to occur multiple times.
All good points. And again I do like the no stripe pants now, nice and clean.

I have to admit that the c/c/w against UNI wasn't too bad, still not my favorite combo. It was a missed opportunity IMO to show a little more gold atleast somewhere (arm sleeve/other) but I understand that as weather still warm. At least a few players w/ red socks (maybe the whole team?) might have worked too.

I would like to see a “gold” jersey with chrome red numbers and sleeve stripes to go with the chrome helmets.

Another reason I wish we had gold pants besides them being better than white with the C-C look on top (made famous in the hallowed trip-OT win against UNI)...

We could do Black-Black-Gold against the Hawkeyes at home.

This is the most obviously sarcastic post of all-time, but the self-troll job would be pretty funny.

On a sunny day, the chrome helmets reflect a lot of light and look a little magenta. Night games or indoors are best for the chrome lids, in my opinion.

Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe we see a new uniform for the Iowa game? I could see them doing a new uni for the Iowa game. To be honest none of our uniforms really go with the chrome helmets but maybe we come out in a light grey uniform with lighter red accents to go with the chrome lids?

If we are going to go with the chrome lids as this tweet portrays, the only home jersey we have that would look good with that would be the black. I don't think cardinal would look good at all with the chrome, and I honestly don't think Campbell is going to go with the black uniforms against Iowa. So... this would be an awesome surprise to give us a new uniform for this game.
Wow, a lot of us do not really care for the chrome helmet. Interesting as signs point to them using it more this year.

It is Campbell's team so he can do what he wants.

I will hold judgement until I see it in a few combos. I think it will be OK.

One might think we might see this sometime this year due to this pic and the more pics so far of the "chrome helmet plus ??".

Seriously doubt it be will against EIU though, but what do I know?

If we do see it sometime this year I think it might be pretty cool, don't really know. The coaching staff and players have had a chance to see it so if they like it, ???

As far as having no red in jersey or pant to tie in a c/b/b (with cardinal helmet), that probably wouldn't be such a big deal. You could always have some of players (or whole team) wear red gloves, red shoes or even just red shoelaces. That might look pretty good. The players would like it I'd bet, and that's important. Let them have some fun.

My only problem with our chrome cardinal and I cant believe I am saying this, because Im not a "Color Shade complainer" usually, but I think our chrome as seen in the bottom pic is too light and should be darker more like the top pic. Simply because our cardinal is a darker shade now. The current chrome we use matches better with our old red shade, maybe more like in the 90's, I think, and in some light almost gets a pink or purple tint to it.
If we went to the darker shade it would match better with our current unis. Although it is possible the new ones are a bit darker.
I do think Chrome cardinal might look good with a Gold or white Jersey, and a Chrome Gold would look good with our Cardinal or white.
Mixing them with the black is cool and does look good but we start to look like other schools with black primary colors, and lose the pure blackout look.

I love the chrome helmets, I think they’re sweet they just don’t go with the cardinal on our uniforms and I think 99% of people would agree with it

I have never seen a chrome/metallic helmet that matches with other elements.

It is a gimmick that you have to accept on its own terms -- if at all.
