Hope our guys won't be distracted by this. Thinking the other team has 0 motivation for this bowl game can bring the play level down a bit. We still need to come out fighting and ready no matter what the "reports" say.

I just assume they’re picking up another flag from Lazard getting mugged

And now I picture Campbell getting suspended for protesting that call, which happens on the last play of the game, ending a dramatic Cyclone comeback drive.
Every single replay will show him plainly saying "What? He's in the NFL! How is that on him?!?!?!?!??!?"

But it'll be OK, because we'll get an apology letter.

Welp. We are effed. Now I fully expect a locked in and focused ND team tomorrow. Would have rather heard that the ND team looked crisp and it has been the best practices all year.

Navy is always a statistical outlier because of the offense that they run. The Michigan game was in a monsoon, and they ran the ball down ND’s throat, so they didn’t need to pass.

ND was very unconventional against USC. USC has three amazing WRs and a good QB, so ND actually defended them in such a way to force USC to beat them on the ground, which is completely against conventional wisdom.

I don’t think that Iowa State has WRs like USC, but it wouldn’t surprise me if ND’s game plan will be to drop a bunch of guys into coverage and bank on being able to stop the run.
If that's the case then I bet that our OC will probably try to break the NCAA record for pass attempts in a game.

Throwing off the back foot doesn't really matter if you are accurate. This is criticism from an era where QBs were expected to step up into the pocket on every pass play. Not the case with most offense these days.

Pat Mahomes and Drew Brees throw off their back feet all the time...

I'm not sure what game you're watching. QBs absolutely need to step up into a pocket. Yes, Mahomes can get away with backpedaling 20 yards and flicking it, but 99.9% of the rest of the QBs can't, including Purdy.

In Purdy's case, when he's throwing off his back foot, it means our OL is getting manhandled or the opponent's blitz is landing or both. We are at our worst in 2nd and 3rd and long with the opponent pinning their ears back, Purdy backpedaling 20 yards behind the LOS instead of stepping up or getting outside, and throwing haphazardly into the defense.

Do you watch anything besides ISU games? How in the hell is ISU 8th in the country in passing offense?

From the same secret, inside source.....ND is going to wear helmets that are one size too big, all the guys have grown their hair into matted, dread-like masses of coif, and they will have easy-release chinstraps with velcro. I expect about 5 targeting calls against Iowa State as their helmets will be frequently rolling around on the ground and the referees will have to follow the exact rule language. Purdy will be ejected in the second quarter for targeting while he is backpedaling and getting sacked because his helmet will touch the linebackers helmet while he is getting pile-driven.

There's another thread where someone said ND won't be able to run the ball...I called it that KSU and KU wouldn't agree.

#humblebrag

Not sure if you're referring to my prior posts, but ND has struggled to run the ball this year against good defenses. They have been so bad at it that they didn't really even try to run against Georgia.

No, it was an ISU fan...said ND won't be able to run the ball.

KU and KSU ran all over ISU and neither of their rushing offenses were all that great.
