Foster's career here is doomed to end up like Lazards if he sticks around 4 years, lots of beatdowns, a coaching change, and if hes not good enough to declare early his senior year would be the soonest the program is competitive again.

WTF comparison is this?

Yeah all-conference, school records, scoring the dagger in Norman and winning a bowl were really harmful to a guy who was never known as a speed guy to begin with.

If he had a Lazard like career then that'd be amazing. Unfortunately I think Foster is much more of a project than Lazard ever was.

I think Steve Prohm is good at recruiting mostly diamonds in the rough, that don't always work out, and coaching a very narrow style when he has the right players. Without the right players, his system struggles and he has limited capacity to coach up a mediocre player.

So far it seems like his best HS recruits have been really raw athletic types but I'm not convinced there was a plan for which role they'd fit into or if roles have really been emphasized.

This thread title is garbage btw. No one can “de-commit” at this point. Also Prohm isn’t getting fired or leaving after bringing in the #22 class in the nation for 2020 so everyone should just move on.
You realize that they're the #22 class because of quantity, not quality right? There are 53 teams with a better recruit average than this ISU class.

Said this in another thread but are our guys in the NBA really there because of development from CSP? Seems like CSP is good at recruiting somewhat ready made NBA talent though.
It's hard to say, but the books say a multitude of Prohm players have gone pro regardless of what specifically got them there. Don't have that on the books without Prohm here anymore (assuming some sort of insane splash hire isn't made after, which doesn't seem likely).

I wasn't talking about his personal accolades while he's here. Lazard endured a coaching change and 3 of the most pathetic seasons in cyclone history before it finally paid off his Senior year and he got a Liberty Bowl victory.

That was the comparison I was trying to make.

That's a good point and makes it very hard to sustain any success when you're signing 4-5 HS kids and 1-2 transfers every year. Turning over almost half your roster consistently is hard to overcome unless you're only bringing in 4-5 stars.

Not sure I see that changing with TH leaving, plus all the busts it appears we have. Outside of Conditt, I don't see much on the current roster that I'm excited about coming back.

So what happens if Foster ends up like Marcus Fizer?

*No, not a comparison talent wise, but his career was sub .500 team, coach change (iirc he at first didn't like Eustachy) to a .500 record, to the best team in school history.

Then I would say thats the best possible outcome for him at this point. The other option is Prohm somehow turning this around and they are a contender again in a couple years, but that looks more and more unlikely.

It's not that much money. If an AD really wants a coach out, they find a way. But I agree with Gunner, Prohm will be back, (barring a complete meltdown in conference play) because JP isn't the type of AD that fires a coach too hastily.

Right or wrong, that's what will happen. Fans just have to ask themselves, are they going support the team because they are still cyclones, or are they going to ***** and complain after every loss, and gloat that they were right about Prohm all along?

Apathy. It’s not worth paying attention to basketball until after the 2021 season when Prohm is fired.

Blackwell was my favorite recruit in the class. At least he left now, that’s preferable to what happened with half the freshman class this season.
