People defended Rhoads and McDermott until the day their tenures ended. Many of them advocating that no one could possibly do better. That segment of fans that will always be with the current coach until the bitter end regardless of the facts still exists.

Or some of us take a longer view of progress and think rolling the dice for overnight success after a few hurdles are missed is foolish.

You don't have to take anyone's word for it. It's publicly searchable. I don't know how much more plain this could be.

If you choose not to use social media that's perfectly fine. But don't come on here and perpetuate incorrect accusations of others' bad behavior just because you don't know how it works.

Our players publicly quit social media over "fans". I'm all-in with their take as they are the one's who are giving everything for this school, their coach and the broader fan base.

I don't think he did.

Yeah he said unless you are a blue blood or Gonzaga/Texas Tech you can’t re-load. I guess I’m at a loss for how he can consider Texas Tech a blue blood that can just re-load when Tech had 5 consecutive losing seasons from 2011-2015. I would think Texas Tech would be the last example this poster would want to use in support of the current state of the program.

You defended Rhoads up until the disaster in Manhattan. You of all people on this site shouldn't get an opinion on the topic.
A lot of the same people that defended CPR are defending Prohm.

on the defender side, they want recruits/players/staff to not see negative stuff. Understand that side.

on the angry side, people arent happy and think the program could do better. Its not that these people are trolls or are bad people (for the most part). Deep down they want the best for the program.

the problem is the extreme fans on both sides. The ones that fling personal insults in defending Prohm or to recruits/players/staff. (Plenty of examples here. If you followed the game thread yesterday you would see what im talking about.)

The line most people are angry for the other side crossing is when to ask for firing people and whether thats a personal insult. Everyone here has a different interpretation of that.

Giving everything? I would hope that their not because if this is all they have we need a big transfer exodus.

It’s no coincidence to me that the only player who has progressed noticeably from last year to current year is the one who had entirely different coaches all summer.

I get that people are probably going too far. However, this program is going to be dangerously close to apathy level if we ha e the season I think we will. Want to go to the KU game Wednesday? Tickets are available for 18 bucks on stubhub. This fan base has zero expectations right now.

I'm glad people are pissed and I'm glad the players are pissed. Means someone gives a **** about all of this. If you want something, put the work into make it happen. If you want the fans to stop complaining, then this team needs to make changes.

I would just add that, Losing to the worst b-ball team in the big 12 sure doesn't help the situation....aka CSP's standing with our fanbase....It's time to beat Kansas.....

'reactionary'?

The trendlines are clear. It isn't just one game. He's getting criticism because we are headed for the second terrible season in 3 years and just had one of the worst losses in program history earlier in the week. Under Prohm we have squandered almost all the momentum gained prior to his arrival instead of maintaining or even building upon it.

That isn't 'reactionary'. It's the facts for anyone paying attention. Guess what, if we end up firing prohm after a year (I assume he won't be fired this year) there will probably be players unhappy with that too- but it is division 1 basketball, it is a business.

And here we have exactly what is wrong with college sports.

I tweeted at Georges Niang after the Kansas game on Jan 13. 2014. He went 0 for 9 from three and I tweeted something stupid like "Georges Niang tried to throw away his dinner and missed the waste basket."

He liked my tweet and said "thanks for being a fan." I deleted it and have never tweeted at a player or tweeted about an individuals performance since.

I think it's ridiculous that people message players directly or tweet at them but when your coach says "we weren't ready to play" against the hated instate rival and then we lose to a 1-9 team in hilton prepare yourself for some criticism.

I've never understood why people care what coaches and players say when things are going bad. What do you want them to say?

You realize some people like to vent their frustrations right? I don't agree with tweeting and players or staff, but I have made a comment under articles before. I'm frustrated because I love Iowa State. I would love to see this team turn it around and prove me wrong, but I don't expect it. I will be critical of Prohm until the day he is no longer the coach and I think that's appropriate. I have the opinion that you need to hold the things you care about to high standards, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong having that opinion.

Hell, I asked Prohm to his face why he recruits so many lefties and he responded with because they are good players. I then told him they never pan out in the league. He said Cam Payne would. I'm sure people would call me a ****, but I say that kind of stuff because I care. If you sugarcoat the truth, you will never see the issues in order to address them.

Wow. In all honesty you strike me as being a remarkably arrogant person.

Hey @CloneFan4, what exactly is funny about this?

Actually I think it's funny also. He is the publisher of the sight that routinely throws coaches and players under the bus. I appreciate Cyclone fanatic but if it was not for the fanatic part of the fan base, even the ones that post and say stupid stuff to players, this site would not have near as much traffic. If he really is that mad at some of the fans, he might want to think about deleting all these threads that are throwing Prohm under the bus.

Granted, I like this site. I think people on this site have a right to their opinion on the coaches and all of that. I just think it's a little strange that Chris came out and said that when most of the bashing happens on his site.

I'm slowly coming to the realization we could finish last in B12 for the 2nd time in last 3-seasons. I still can't accept an average Iowa team had us down at one point by 25 - in Hilton.
I will not buy an ESPN+ sub this season and I will not buy Cyclone TV sub next season.
But I will never negatively respond to a Social Media tweet from a coach, or player.

Oh no! A random guy can no longer voice his opinion! Oh no! I wasn't on the fire train soon enough! Oh no! I support CSP and CMC! Oh no! I supported GMac and CPR! Oh no! I don't think Fred was all that special! Oh no! I think CSP is the best recruiter we've had and he can fix some things with a change in bench coaches! Oh no!

Because you were embarrassed or because GN handled it with class?
